Temperature 82 degrees with occasional clouds, and lagoon waters, clear as paradise… former President Barack Obama is wrapping up his month-long vacation in French Polynesia – with Michelle by his side.
On Sunday, Tahiti television station TNTV revealed photos of Michelle Obama paddleboarding while the Barack swam in a Polynesian lagoon.
The pictures were taken on the island of Moorea by fellow vacationers, who spotted the laid-back couple using a small boat for a late morning excursion. They were escorted by two other boats with their security detail, the station says.
The former president has been staying out of the public eye at The Brando, the super-private luxury hotel on Tetiaroa, the South Pacific island bought in 1967 by Marlon Brando as a personal retreat.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama had not been with her husband the entire time – she arrived on the island on Saturday.

the bizarre thing is that they are always lauded as fantastic parents. The 18 yr old is by herself in NYC drinking and working for homosexuals and the 15 yr old is off on her own too. Went to Miami Beach sans parents with “friends”. I seriously doubt that these girls cross their parent’s minds

Food on Moorea is expensive. I’m sure they didn’t stay at all-inclusive Sofitel. All-inclusives are cookie-cutter the world over, IMO.
Bora Bora became a middle class honeymoon destination by 2000. Tahiti (the big island)itself was like Waikiki and the water off Papeete was unswimable due to pollution. The surf can be 86 in our winter.
Hate to sound snobby, but I was on Moorea in 1975 before high end development and returned in 2000. You can’t ever go back to a place that was once paradise and is now accessible. That said: if you aim for the South Pacific, go to the Coral Sea and for a LOT more $$ there is a place called Lizard Island. Although, check it out first, because it’s been 17 years and they can ruin heaven once the big corporations take over the resorts.
I don’t think anywhere is undiscovered any longer. We went to Bonaire in 1986 and loved it so much, we went back every year until 1998, when it had become just another tourist destination filled with Lon Guylanders.
