RUSH: President Trump told a funny story not long ago. A bunch of people were seated around the dinner table, and President Trump was talking about not long after Id arrived in New York. He said, Yeah, Im asking everybody whos this Limbaugh guy? Nobody knows who this Limbaugh guy is. And they start telling me who this Limbaugh guy is and I said, Well, I gotta get on that show. And my friends told me, You cant get on that show. He doesnt take guests. He does three straight hours with no guests and hardly any phone calls. You cant get on that show. I said its the first show Ive ever been told I cant get on.
So on Friday what we do is move myself out of the way a little bit in terms of areas of discussion. Now, what happens is that, since my interests are so broad and so varied, so omnivorous, that its really tough for people to call and talk about something that I dont care about, but the opportunity is there.
President Trump is on the way to Atlanta. He is the first president since (interruption) Yeah, I just saw this. It doesnt mean anything. Snerdley is sending me a news alert. The news alert is that theyve reached a stopgap funding measure for one week. In other words, a government shutdown (panting) has been averted for (panting) one week.
So we have another week just like this week coming up. Will there be a Republican shutdown? Will the Republicans shut down the government? Will Donald Trump shut down the government? Will people starve? Will the sleigh rides at Jellystone Park terminate, all of that, we get it for another week.
Just shut it down! Just shut it down and get what you want! Im so worn out. This government shutdown as a political tactic, that the people who lose the elections continue to succeed with? What is wrong here? The people that lose elections ought to be hammered every day, and theyre not. Theres a story by the way. You wont believe this. I wasnt gonna get to this, the top the list, but now Im gonna go there.
Theres a story in Politico. (laughing) Let me give you the CliffNotes version of the story. Its in Politico and theyre very upset that Trump watches Fox & Friends first thing every morning. But do you know why? Fox & Friends is too positive. And so Trump is getting a distorted picture of what the country actually thinks of him. He starts the day thinking that hes loved, thinking that hes adored, because thats where hes loved and adored is on Fox & Friends.
And he sees all the cute little animal segments that they have and all the upbeat Americas-great segments that they do. And the people there tend to like each other and get along and there isnt any put-down stuff going on. Theres no mean-spirited extremism.
And so Trumps not getting an accurate picture of America (laughing) because hes watching a phony show where theres too much optimism and theres too much positive reinforcement, and he better stop it. He had better stop it. He had better start watching stuff that is ripping him to shreds every day so he knows how much hes hated. (laughing)
As though Fox & Friends is the only morning show that tries that? Now, they may be only one that pulls it off because most of the other morning shows are devoted to destroying Trump or being negative. I mean, the Drive-By Medias miserable and unhappy every day because Trump won.

RUSH: Back to Fox & Friends. Heres Trump getting up and watching Fox & Friends. Theyre very worried at Politico that hes getting a distorted picture of America and his presidency, because theyre optimistic. Theyre happy. They see the positive things during the day, these people at Fox & Friends. Steve Doocy, Kilmeade, Ainsley Earhardt. But the worst aspect of it is that Trumps not seeing an accurate representation of the America he leads.
And hes not seeing an accurate presentation of how he is thought of. And until Trump changes until Trump ditches this show and starts watching some other morning show which is much more immersed in reality then Trump is going to continue to be ignorant and separated from the America that he is leading. Every day, folks, I get up and I read the news. I look at the news, and every day I think that a limit has been reached where I cant expect to find any more ludicrousness or idiocy and every day, I surprise myself.
It was a typical Tuesday in March, and President Donald Trump was getting hammered by the press. One of his signature campaign promises, repealing Obamacare, had just collapsed. The Republican co-chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, investigating ties between Trump associates and Russia was under fire for a secret meeting on the White House grounds. And Gallups recent poll numbers showed Trump at 36% approval, a historic low for a new president.
But Trump was starting his day, as usual, with Fox & Friends, where the world looked decidedly sunnier. Here was an ultrasound image of his ninth grandchild, in utero. His meeting with women business owners, described in glowing terms. And his enemies defanged: According to the hosts [at Fox & Friends], it was Hillary Clintons cronies not Trumps who had the problematic Russia contacts, prompting Trump to tweet: Watch @foxandfriends now on Podesta and Russia!
Trumps cozy relationship with Fox & Friends has become one of the great curiosities of his unusual presidency. A well-known cable TV devotee, Trump has found inspiration for his Twitter timeline in various programs but none so much as Fox News Channels 6-9 a.m. talk show. A man with access to the highest levels of the national security apparatus regularly uses [Fox & Friends] as an unimpeachable source of information Its not hard to understand the shows appeal.
While the rest of the media frets and wails over Trumps policies and sounds the alarm over his tweets, Fox & Friends remains unrelentingly positive. Its pitched to the frequency of the Trump base, but it also feels intentionally designed for Trump himself a three-hour, high-definition ego fix. For a president who no longer regularly receives adulation from screaming crowds at mega rallies, Fox & Friends offers daily affirmation that he is successful and adored, that his America is winning after all.
Trump is living an illusion, because Fox & Friends is presenting one!
Psychology suggests that the programs particular trappings have effects on viewers that go beyond ego stroking. The fast pace, the cheerfulness and the breezy confidence are a combination tailor-made for maximum persuasion, experts say. So Fox & Friends is a secret propaganda program! Fox & Friends is being programmed There is an all-out, full-fledged frontal assault to destroy Fox News.

RUSH: Okay. Gotta share this quote from the Fox & Friends story that Trumps getting a distorted view of America by watching Fox & Friends. This reporterette, by the way, at Politico? Her name is Joanna Weiss. She probably never watched this show until she was assigned to by the assignment editor at Politico. She was shocked. And I want you to listen. This is Really, even though this is hilarious and uproariously funny, it still is a very, very wide open window into the soul and the mind-set of the American media, the American left.
She goes and talks to Dannagal Young, a professor at the University of Delaware who studies the way people process political information. Heres the quote from the Delaware university professor who studies the way people process political information. You ready for this? When we are feeling happy and people are smiling around us, it ignites a primal response that is, Things are good! Things are great! I dont have to be careful. I dont have to think carefully. The show is a ticket to a kind of self-perpetuating state of complacency
This is actually a complaint about thinking positively. This is a complaint and a warning if you happen to be optimistic. Optimism in todays America is akin to being blind. When youre optimistic with Trump president and the Democrats not in power and with all of this ruckus going on if youre optimistic while all this is happening then you are not thinking. You are being programmed. You dont have to be careful. I have
Im sure its happened; I just cant recall thins. But this is a direct reference to the fact that being optimistic and positive is a mental problem. A disability. Think about that.
I’m a big fan of Fox And Friends. It’s clear Donald is also. It’s like reading FR first thing in the morning.
Politico - another Lying leftist outlet to be shunned and ignored.
LOl—that is my favorite morning news show! Refuse to watch any other show!!
I still can’t believe the Donald is president :)
I knew he was very savvy and MORE than any politician i’ve known, in touch with the people when he presented a miniature version of the ORIGINAL Twin Towers that the VAST majority wanted rebuilt.
Still a billionaire NYC guy as president. Queens no less.
Not as good a place as Staten Island :), but not bad.
FNF is one of the few shows I watch on FNC. Hannity and Carlson being the others I might watch depending on their guests. Otherwise FNC is in the also rans of cable news like CNN, PMSNBC.
I could not have put it any better.
So am I.
Same here.
More Fake News.
Same here, and Brian Kilmeade is so cute. He’s my favorite.
Same here. ‘FR in the morning’ is just right. I wake up early to see it every day. And if Ainsley is not the most intelligent, down to earth, cheerful girl next door type woman than I haven’t seen her!
I don’t always watch the entire Hannity show because it comes on the late. My eyes always tell me when it is time to go to bed. So I always record the remainder of the show.
Exactly. Someone said this morning on Fox News (After Fox and Friends was over, that JFK’s first 100 years weren’t so great either. especially with the Cuba Missile crisis, but the drive-by media ignored that.
Phony and/or skewed polls contributed to the undoing of the Hildebeest. It's clear the 'rats have not abandoned that tactic. And it will bite them in the ass going forward just as it did in 2016.
Watching Fox and Friends is a good way to feel friendly and upbeat at the start of a new day. I do not watch all of it or every day but when I do, I am not waiting for a Trump zinger from them or their guests. They are followed by Bill Hemmer with Shannon Bream which is also a breather from much of the left leaning other FOX programming. I also like Ed Henry as much as Tucker Carlson and I hope they both remain unspoiled by the current anti Pres Trump atmosphere at FOX.
Former Clinton Staffer and Democratic Megadonor ..New Politico CEO/a>.
We watch FBC . Maria Bartiloma and then Stewart Varney . Doesn’t get any better .
Especially since he didn't live to see the last 97.
