I live in the county and think this is great. But with the heavy concentration of illegals in this county and the liberal attitudes of most voters, I suspect the Sheriff will be gone after the next election.
Future neighbors for the sanctuary-loving libs.
This is THE issue ripe for scotus.
State law rights against federal law . Locals want to comply.
Who trumps and what power of purse can be applied.
Totally agree with you. Am familiar with Ventura and LA County, they’re both headed in the wrong direction and have been for years.
Throw in some possession and sales of stolen property and those arrest records look a lot like the local Bandido chapter when I lived in Washington State. The big difference being, we can kick the illegals out.
“The big difference being, we can kick the illegals out.”
Not so fast. We now have a so-called governor and an attorney general (nuisance) who love the illegals. WA State is sinking fast!
“I suspect the Sheriff will be gone after the next election.”.....
Unfortunately, I will have to agree with that statement. “Kalifornica” is lost and unless the rest of this country wakes up to what this law enforcement officer has shown, there will be many, many more places “lost” as well. God Bless that Sheriff.
OK, so maybe I’m missing something here but all fifteen cases the sheriff mentioned are felony arrests. Isn’t the sheriff holding them and processing them based on those? Why would their immigration status make any difference?
“...there will be many, many more places lost as well. God Bless that Sheriff.”
Not many, the whole country! The balance of power everywhere is under siege by the Left, and unfortunately, despite the last general election, they continue to make progress.
I hope our Orange County Sheriff ignores this sanctuary nonsense for illegals.
Because after their adjudication in CA courts they would be set free if CA politicians get their way, they should have already been removed, some of them were and came back.
That’s why we need a wall.
These 15 illegals are being held by ICE, they’re examples.
Here’s a very short excerpt from CA SB 54:
“Existing law provides that when there is reason to believe that a person arrested for a violation of specified controlled substance provisions may not be a citizen of the United States, the arresting agency shall notify the appropriate agency of the United States having charge of deportation matters.
This bill would repeal those provisions.”
There’s much more.
California wants to refuse to follow federal law. Says it doesn’t have to.
California wants to make a law that all counties must be “sanctuary” cities.
Does California say localities may not refuse to follow state law? Says counties must follow state law?
As opposed to states being able to refuse federal law
They also need to show who this policy of following the law helps.
It helps the Hispanic community.
The victims of these crimes committed by these illegal aliens are overwhelmingly against Hispanics.
You make an excellent point and it’s absolutely true.
There are large areas of So CA counties that are mostly Hispanic and many live in fear of gangs and illegals.
“There are large areas of So CA counties that are mostly Hispanic and many live in fear of gangs and illegals.”
Yes.
Too bad these GD politicians responsible for decades long open violent borders, resulting in hundreds of thousands of American victims at the hands of their precious criminal illegal alien associates, have never been held responsible.
Never forget.
But it would require that the authorities notify ICE of the scheduled release or parole of any illegal who has been doing time for a violent or serious felony, or had done time for a violent or serious felony in the past. Every one of the cases cited by the sheriff would fall under those guidelines.
