Trump: Off to a Good Start
The National Review ^ | May 2, 2017 | Conrad Black

Posted on 05/02/2017 7:12:40 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Much, for America, depends on his success.

It is often hard to discern, but, despite an unprecedented amount of friction and the continued implacable hostility of the discredited post-Reagan political establishment, Donald Trump is continuing to gain ground in his holy crusade against them. He mousetrapped himself into turning 100 days into an important milestone, unlike any other president except Franklin D. Roosevelt (who had a unanimous mandate to deal radically with the Great Depression). Very predictably, this has turned into an empty-net goal for the large swath of the media whom he has correctly described as, in terms of honest reportage, “enemies of the people.” But in fact, although the impression has often, and not always inaccurately, been one of chaos and unserious amateurism in the administration, the president has achieved a lot.

He has dodged a trap by ignoring the silly partisan overreach of carefully chosen left-wing courts on the West Coast over his immigration executive order, and will surely be vindicated by the Supreme Court, a seat on which he has successfully filled. Illegal immigration has already declined by 70 percent. The foolishness about Trump’s campaign collusion with Russia will soon be hanging around the neck of the Democrats like a toilet seat....

Zero effort to stop Planned Parenthood from executing 1000 babies a day. After ‘sounding’ so passionate during the campaign.

Voters stayed home because they thought Romney was a fraud. Trump makes Romney look like George Washington.

I wouldn’t argue with Black. I would ask why all of a sudden National Review has started to run pro-Trump articles.

Franklin D. Roosevelt (who had a unanimous mandate to deal radically with the Great Depression).

Really? FDR got `100% of the vote? I must have missed that in history class.

“Trump makes Romney look like George Washington.”

That is one of the most ignorant statements I have heard in a long time.

Thanks for posting the article.

It was very well written, and very prescient.

See my column tomorrow in www.bigleagupolitics.com. They really don’t care if they lose elections.

Because Trump has been doing what the neocon elitists at National Review favor, not what the voters want.

he makes some great points. thx for posting. Donald has done a lot of great stuff under the table and he needs to promote these. exec order make stuff happen.. but he needs to get ivanka and Melania working on the new curtains with Jarred. and hunker down with bannon. maybe demint. pence might be salvageable. If there is a deconstruction of the admin state occurring, how would that look about now? my plan would be to lay off 75% of the people that work in washington. during the press briefing today, the press was concerned about the government employees that got delayed paychecks during the last shutdown. the budget chief who reminds me of a used car salesman, sorry, did respond with comments about fundamental change to the system. that is a good phrase because it masks what needs to happen. 75% of washington dc goes bust for the good of the country and the rest of us survive. sorry for the rant.

Wow, stupidest thing I’ve heard in a LONG time, and that includes the deranged rantings from the resurgent Cruzlims lately.

Chuck U. Schumer is happy. That should tell you everything you need to know about Trump’s performance.

The electoral college vote in 1932 was 472 for FDR vs. 59 for Hoover. Hoover had 15,760,684 popular votes...more than Calvin Coolidge received when he won in 1924. Of course the size of the electorate had grown between 1924 and 1932.

Hoover's electoral college vote in 1932 was higher than Jimmy Carter's in 1980.

Like building the wall, expelling illegals, putting in a conservative USSC justice, deregulating faster than Reagan . . . you mean that stuff?

Try again.

I posted this on another thread:
This is Trump in Washington:

At one end of the rope is Ryan, at the other end is McConnell. Both are shaking the rope.

On the ground, throwing garbage and water balloons, are the DemocRATs and the media.

Considering the odds stacked against him, I think he's doing a pretty good job. Will he ultimately succeed? I don't know. It would not surprise me in the least to hear that Ryan's got articles of impeachment ready and waiting in his office desk (read up on the thin justifications needed for impeachment), but he can't bring them out right now because Trump is too popular.

Trump has to keep what victories he can engineer front and center to the American people, doing end runs around the major media. That's the only way he can win against the bastards in the GOPe.

Good.

Doesn’t change that I remember your nevertrumpism from long before, and now here you come back.
