Old stompin' grounds. It's a start. Easy to check who didn't get one, eh?

How about this?

"Federal officials told Pennsylvania in October that the state would get no more extensions because it had made no effort to comply. The Wolf administration in January was granted a six-month reprieve through June 6. But after June 6, a Pennsylvania driver’s license will no longer be accepted as a valid ID at military bases, nuclear facilities, and other federal sites.

Effective Jan. 22, 2018, a Pennsylvania driver’s license will no longer be accepted by TSA screeners at airports.

Other noncompliant states are Oklahoma, Minnesota, Washington, Maine, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, and Montana.

Missouri indeed requires proof of citizenship, residence and Social security. All of the Real I’d act requirements. Missouri is noncompliant in that it will not copy and forward those documents to the fed gov.

REAL ID needs to be killed dead, ASAP.

They said that the Social Security number would *never* be a national ID number. They lied.

They didn’t even bother to lie about REAL ID. Except that its only benefit is for the federal government. Not the states. And not the people.

And the worst part of REAL ID is that it *enables* the federal government to be even *more* intrusive and repressive. What might it turn into in the future?

Right now, they plan to bar those without it from air travel, go on to military bases, or even go into any federal buildings.

...valid ID at military bases, nuclear facilities, and other federal sites...[including TSA checkpoints]>

The clear intent, of course, is to guard against threats to federal operations.

It would be sane and intellectually honest to add to that "casting a vote for any politician that is to serve at the federal level".

RE:”Missouri is one of only five states that doesn't comply or have an extension to comply with a 2005 federal law that established tougher licensing requirements in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Lawmakers have pushed back on the stringent proof-of-identity requirements under the law, known as the Real ID Act, citing privacy issues. “

Privacy issues?

I never understood the reasoning behind the Real ID act.

I understand it was a reaction to 9/11.

But, tightening ID standards in America would not prevent foreign terrorists such as Mohammed Atta and the boys from what they did, because their ID was their foreign issued passport. Our American Real ID act has no effect on ID used by foreign countries.

In addition, what is the point of tightening ID standards for Americans, when more and more states are issuing drivers licenses to illegal aliens? The state issued drivers license can no longer be any proof of citizenship , if it ever really was, because illegals can get licenses in some states nowadays.

Can anyone explain any of this, why it makes sense to have this Real ID act as a reaction to 9/11???

I don't understand what the various rationales that the non-compliant states are hung up on such that they have not implemented secure ID for their citizens. Guessing that it is States Rights for some and illegal aliens for others. This guess on target? I like secure ID as it forces a requirement to produce certified documents proving US Citizenship.

I would advise though that all US Citizens to go through the paperwork hassle of getting a US Passport. Given the proof if ID and citizenship required for a number of real life situations, a passport does make life simpler at key times. Of course, a passport is going to be a mandatory item for many citizens of these non-compliant states very soon unless they want to put ID critical jobs at risk.

Other than covering for illegal aliens, what possible reason could there be for non-compliance?
