Report: China cripples CIA operations, kills informants
Washington Post ^ | 05/20/2017

WASHINGTON — The Chinese government “systematically dismantled” CIA spying operations in China starting in late 2010 and killed or imprisoned at least a dozen CIA sources over the next two years, The New York Times reported Saturday.

The newspaper cited 10 current and former U.S. officials, who described the intelligence breach as one of the worst in decades. They spoke on condition of anonymity.

The report said U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies scrambled to stem the damage, but were bitterly divided over the cause of the breach. Some investigators were convinced there was a mole within the CIA, while others believed the Chinese had hacked the covert system the CIA used to communicate with its foreign sources. The debate remains unresolved, the paper said.

The CIA, which declined to comment to the Times, also declined to comment Saturday to The Associated Press.

The number of CIA assets lost in China rivaled those lost in the Soviet Union and Russia as a result of the betrayals by both CIA officer Aldrich Ames and FBI agent Robert Hanssen, who were arrested in 1994 and 2001, respectively, the report said. As many as 20 CIA sources were killed or imprisoned in China over a two-year period, the Times said, citing two former senior U.S. officials.

Investigators suspected a former CIA operative of being a mole, but failed to gather enough evidence to arrest him and he is now living in another Asian country, the report said. Those who rejected the mole theory attributed the losses to sloppy American tradecraft in China.

Gee...this couldn’t have anything to do with Hillary’s unclassified email server. Or could it?

Is there some reason you think that in 2010 our tradecraft was not sloppy?

That’s the year Huma Abedin left her laptop, loaded with classified data, unattended in China.

Given the actions of the CIA against President Trump, I’d say the Chinese have done the US a huge favor.

I want to know why the WP & NYT are posting stuff that happened on emperor Obama’s watch (or at least started then)? Is Trump allowing it to continue, is that the implication?

The only time it is acceptable to leave stuff like that lying about, is if the CIA actually wanted to plant disinfo that way.
But given Huma’s habit of all around sloppiness it was most likely not a plant.
Maybe a sale...

A Freeper sent me this observation:

Let´s see.....

-Obama appoints Clinton as Sec of State late Jan 2009.

-Clinton almost immediately begins using her ´private´ server-in-the-bathroom for her Sec of State emails.

-Several foreign countries (presumably including China) find and hack into this server.

-Obama establishes the practice of receiving the Presidential Daily (intelligence) Briefing on a tablet computer, and sends copies to various admin officials, presumably including Clinton, on her unsecured server, enabling the Chinese to read the Presidential Daily Briefing every day, likely before Clinton bothered to read it.

And who was president when all this was going on? I guess Obama apologized to the Chinese for them having to go to the trouble of finding and killing these people.

Notice that the ComPost put the headline in present tense to infer to a headline scanner that this happened under Trump’s watch, even though this happened years ago under Obama.

Who was the president and who was his Secretary of State during this time period?

One hint it was not Trump or T Rex!

Did Clinton/Huma’s unprotected server kill these agents?

Did the ChiCom’s bribe Obama/Clinton/Huma for the names of our agents in China?
