HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Roy Moore made his first campaign stop in north Alabama since announcing his candidacy for the US Senate. He spoke briefly to the Republican Women of Huntsville's luncheon, along with candidates Randy Brinson and Representative Mo Brooks.

* * *

He told the crowd at the luncheon that he supported the president's vision.

He told us he wants to see a clean repeal of Obamacare, "I think health care should be voted on. I think we should repeal Obamacare, and I think that's what the people of Alabama want, the people of this country want."

Repeal and do not replace.

Let the free market provide health insurance as actual insurance.

I’ll be voting for him. The media and the Birmingham Republicans hate him; that’s good enough for me, even if Judge Moore wasn’t awesome. Which he is.

We could sure use repeal without replacement.

And then rolling back some of the government interference that has got us in this mess, by doing things like allowing interstate competition or rolling back socialization of the insurance pools ... and finally either take steps to remove the tax advantages of employment benefits that link insurance to employment (a bad idea) or allow cash paid medical expenses (not insurances deductible related, though) to be deductible from the first dollar, independant of regular itemization concerns.

Judge Roy Moore is extremely popular in Alabama.

Roy's got my vote. And he'll win bigly down here. He's held his ground for years on sheer principle, and paid dearly for it. The ultimate comeuppance to all those atheist snivel-liberties maggots who tried to tear him down.

This is one campaign I would give some hard-earned cash to....

I wouldn’t give him a dime.

Mo Brooks has already submitted a bill before congress to repeal obamacare. He was doing this before it was popular. It was just a two page bill to repeal.

Roy Moore hasn’t done much of anything other than play the Christian-card better than any politician in the nation. He’s not the only Christian in the race.

Roy was a small town judge that got attention because he refused to have the Ten Commandments removed from his courtroom (I stood with him on this). He used that to get elected to Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. As Chief Justice, he ordered a 5,280 lb monument of the Ten Commandments in the rotunda of the state’s judicial building. IT’S NOT HIS BUILDING!!!! He’s GRANDSTANDING!!!! And he’s using the faith-card to do so.

There are people far more qualified that offer more than just being Christian. Yes, being Christian is important to me but there’s more to getting things done in Washington than grandstanding.

He us popular with regular Alabamians like me. Not with the upstate elites. They’d rather invite Fed.gov in to run things. And get rid of those pesky gun owners.

I think grandstanding is pretty gutsy when the rest of the world makes you a target for doing so.

I don’t know what your problem with him is, but it just looks like you would rather he not ruffle the enemy’s feathers.

I mean really...how do you prove “grandstanding?”

Oh ... here's the monument he placed in a state building. Again, it's not his building. He just likes to stir controversy. He was removed from office because he couldn't obey the law.

Spare me. Mike Pence is a fine Christian man but he doesn’t have to disobey the law to do his job.

I want someone that will go to DC and do their job instead of constant controversy. There was no controversy when Moore was elected Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. HE CREATED ONE. He got removed from office for it.

There’s are reasons he’s lost three general elections in Alabama.

Horse hockey.

Your “disobey the law” is on the same rhetorical level as “abortion is the law of the land.”

Total cowardice.

As for what you’ve already said about him, it was ad hominem by definition, so if the instant antagonism is any surprise to you, it’s your own fault.

Well I am going to bring in a bigger Christian monument. You should vote for me.

Sorry for all the sarcasm. I am certainly okay if he professes to be a Christian. I am a Christian and I am not sure I would vote for someone that isn’t a Christian. It’s just that I think there is a lot more to being a good senator than being Christian. My minister is no doubt a Christian but I certainly wouldn’t vote for him to be a US senator.

You may be able to place a 5300 lb monument in your place of work but most of us cannot. Judge Roy was elected to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Not to personally decide what monuments get placed in our state buildings.

I don’t totally dislike the man. I just believe there are far better choices.

Dodging the issue... Insurance has been a highly regulated market for decades. Instant Wild West is not something the land is ready for and might even catch arch conservatives by surprise with the consequences.

Bottom line: Moore bucks Trump at his peril.
