Then by default you are in favor of some states being allowed to blatantly violate the Constitution. This isn't about those whose rights are not being violated, but about those who rights are being trampled.
I agree with you but, you are welcome to "press to test" in states like New Jersey, New York, California, etc. thanks Be ready for a long prison term and about $200,000 in legal fees.
You are not wrong in the technical sense, but in the practical sense. The courts and the states have been allowed to blatantly violate the 2nd Amendment at will.
Amen. The President eople who are saying they don't care are the same ones that are not having their rights violated.
So your answer is to tell people run away and surrender, and allow the oppressors to win?
No, that map is just a snapshot of one state - PA. You can Google reciprocity maps as they currently stand between states. I am not going to post 50 maps.
True. I chose to live in a state that meddles less than most. So, what are you going to do to solve your problem? I suppose a strong centralized government could solve all problems for each and every one of us. Irony. /s
GA has made some positive strides lately regarding 2A. I've been very pleased. Didn't know that reciprocity had been acheived with SC. Thanks for sharing that.
Because you will be on a national list of known gun owners, when someone like the Arkansas grifter gets in and uses the list as a work list or where to go to confiscate said fire arm.
It is truly a sticky situation.
I support the NRA and I am contacting my Congressman and Senators to support National Reciprocity.
Good
What we need to be doing is rolling back the federal laws we already have regarding firearms. Let's get rid of 1934's NFA and 1986's assault rifle ban.
What requirements did the feds impose for states issuing drivers licenses?
Gun rights are no different.
I was beset by a flash mob at the National Zoo in 2011, while shepherding 7 little children, who had to witness a stabbing.
After that, I wrote to my Senators and my Member of Congress, asking them to pass (immediately) 50-state reciprocity for DC.
This is a power which Congress unquestionably has. The issue of requiring California to do something California does not want to do is a legitimate controversy (and, yes, so is the issue of requiring Mississippi to do something SHE doesn’t want to do).
But the power to “legislate IN ALL CASES WHATSOEVER” over the District of Columbia belongs to Congress, only to Congress, and is as clear as anything in the Constitution.
Needless to say, I received no responses.
Thanks for sharing that story. It is a shame how cowardly and do nothing our supposed “Representatives” are.
So why shouldn't the states be the ones to decide that since that is not specifically a power reserved to Congress?
The courts and the states have been allowed to blatantly violate the 2nd Amendment at will.
Correct, and if “we the people” let it ride as we have done for so long a time, it is tough to suddenly come to the point where “we” take back our rights through nullification and simply ignore the Congress and the Courts, although were the movement large enough and thus powerful enough, it could be done very quickly. It would be a serious power play with the people against Federal agencies and local Government. Not to be undertaken lightly.
