Sorry. Author’s name is Kruta, not Krupta
He would have been 15 in July 1943 and 16 at the Battle of the Bulge. Probably was not at DDay.
He is probably the youngest living veteran of World War 2.
If that 89-year-old sergeant was a vet of the Batttle of the Bulge in 1944, he was about 16.

That’s what it says.
I read about a vet who served in WWII starting when he was 14 (posing as 17). Didn’t say how he did it.
He was 15. His birthday is tomorrow. Not sure if he’s 89 or about to turn 89.
I hadn’t reat that when I wrote it.
I hadnt read that when I wrote it.
The article, which I read, say he turns 89 tomorrow which is what I based my calculations on.
my Dad is a WW2 vet.......90 years old (and about 90.5 really). Born in January of 1927. Turned 18 in January of 1945, and spent some time in the Pacific theatre through the spring and summer of 1945. ex-Navy - was on an aircraft carrier through the end of the war.
My dad was a WW2 veteran. For all of my life, I thought his birthday was 19 September 1923. I took him to renew his drivers license in 2012 and the DMV said his records didn’t match their database. This was in Arizona where he had a drivers since 1945. It turns out that the national databases discovered that he was born in 1925 instead of 1923. His VA records show that he was born in 1923. He confessed that he lied about his age to the Navy when he enlisted. It took 70 years for it to finally catch up!
My dad died when he was 92 and his birth certificate said he was 94. That was a common practice back in those days, the doctor made housecalls to deliver babies and would fib on the birth certificates so the children could go to work a couple years early. My dad's first job at 14 was smoothing out concrete for a new road behind a team of horses. This was around the great depression era.
There is not one republican conservative alive out there today who can win hearts and minds of the audience like DJT did today with his speech at the Veterans venue.
There may be purer conservatives alive than DJT, but none of them can win hearts and minds of voters like Trump did today. I attended one of his campaign rallies which filled the 10,000 capacity arena in Everett, WA and there were 8000 more waiting in line outside. Trump did 100 such rallies during campaign. None of the other candidates could attract 1000 people at 10 rallies.
At the end of day, those who can not win elections have zero power to further any conservative agenda legislation.
Ricky Schroder played Calvin Graham, the true story if a young sailor who enlisted in the Navy at age 12 during WWII. Very interesting movie called Too Young A Hero. You can watch it on YouTube for free.
long time ago i had a neighbor who told me he snuck into the Navy at 16YO to fight in WWII like his older brothers...
“If that 89-year-old sergeant was a vet of the Batttle of the Bulge in 1944, he was about 16.”
My dad was 16 at the battle of the Philippines.
TRUE!
He was fantastic tonight!
My great uncle on the maternal side lost his life at the Battle of the Bulge.
