Media Find It Newsworthy that a Top U.S. Commander Would Follow Orders from President Trump

The New York Times and other news media outlets find it newsworthy that a top U.S. military commander, when asked a far-fetched hypothetical question about a nuclear strike on China, replied that he would comply with an order on the matter if it came from President Donald Trump.

“What if Trump Ordered a Nuclear Strike on China? I’d Comply, Says Admiral,” was the title of a highly-cited New York Times article.

The newspaper was reporting on a comment made by Adm. Scott H. Swift, commander of the United States Pacific Fleet, who was asked at a security conference in Australia on Thursday whether he would hypothetically comply with an order from Trump to carry out a nuclear strike on China.

“The answer would be yes,” Swift replied to the generalized hypothetical.

Swift explained the chain of command in the U.S. military: “Every member of the U.S. military has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic and to obey the officers and the president of the United States as the commander in chief appointed over us.”

He added that the proper chain of command serves as the “core to the American democracy,” according to a recording obtained by Reuters.

Capt. Charlie Brown, explained that the topic of using nuclear weapons on China was “ridiculous,” and that Swift was simply responding to an “outrageous hypothetical” question posed to him.

“Frankly, the premise of the question was ridiculous,” Brown said. “It was posed as an outrageous hypothetical, but the admiral simply took it as an opportunity to say the fact is that we have civilian control of the military and we abide by that principle.”

Oh nonsense.....a war footing is a war footing. Media can’t tell anything except it’s own propaganda.

They believe cross dressers are good for the military and officers should not follow orders. They think the military should be independent of civilian control? Phrase the question to them in that manner and find out how quick they stammer and stutter an answer.

When pushed to clarify their opinion, I’m sure they’ll just say “we only report the news”. Yeah, sure they do.

Any other answer might have led to Armageddon. A nuclear deterrent is only a deterrent, if your enemies believe you’ll use it, when it’s needed.

[As a result of pressure applied to the Israelis by the US State Dept. and Tillerson specifically, all metal detectors and camera were removed from the Temple mount, freeing the cheering Palestinians to kill more people on the Mount and blame Israel.]

And that U.S. taxpayers should pay for crazy-in-the-head men attempting to become "women" - and crazy-in-the-head women attempting to become "men". The "transgender agenda" - popularized by Michael Michelle, cross-dressing Barack (according to Mia Marie Pope) and Bruce I'm-now-a-woman Jenner.

Sounds like a valid order. Now, if Trump ordered him to bomb the Chinese with cream pies, I think he might not.

I would think prime targets for the Chinks would be Bolshies hell holes, so why would they do us any favors?

While the leftist media is busy chasing their own tails to see who can dump the most dirt on Trump, his administration is quietly getting things done.

This is so gonna’ backfire yuuuuge on the left if Trump can stay the course and do the things he promised.

Officers do not swear an oath to anything other than the Constitution. They certainly don’t swear to obey the orders of the officers appointed over them. The Admiral is wrong.

“Media Find It Newsworthy that a Top U.S. Commander Would Follow Orders from President Trump”

The media is basically left wing. The same sources that believe our military are lab rats for social experimentation, and other tasks for the entertainment of that clique. The same life forms that believe we can question, and obfuscate no matter the intensity of an approaching, inevitable disaster.

It’s not a wonder they are puzzled, perhaps perplexed, and therefore consider it newsworthy that a leader of the military would comply with his President’s order.

If they weren’t idiots there’d be no headline.

Because we swear the oath to the constitution, to support and defend that constitution, we swear to uphold the laws laid out in the constitution. The constitution specifically designates the commander in chief as the president and so not to follow valid orders given by the president is a violation of what the constitution dictates and our oath.

We swear to carry out the valid orders of the president.

LOL! Their oath implies they will obey lawful orders - this guy pretty much said he would fulfill his oath and by doing so, indicated trust in his Commander in Chief.

Show me a Lt. that disobeys a Col and doesn't have his career destroyed and then try again.

Since you seem to have trouble with what's proper and not, I can guarantee that hitting the link

Right here smart ass - I was a LTjg that told a Navy O6 to get off my bridge as OOD (U/W) on USS NIMITZ. He left. The ship’s CO told him never to challenge one of his OOD’s again. Care to try again?
