The last thing Keondrae Brown remembers before he blacked out is lying in shattered glass on Tampa Road, next to the burning wreckage of a stolen car, lucky to be alive after a high-speed crash that killed his brother and two of his friends.
Now Keondrae and two other boys in a second stolen car could face murder charges in the deaths of Keontae Brown, 16; Jimmie Goshey, 14; and Dejarae Thomas, 16.
Sheriff Bob Gualtieri suggested the more serious charges against the surviving teens at a news conference Monday, a day after the Palm Harbor crash once again highlighted Pinellas' deadly plague of juvenile car thefts.

"We have a serious problem and something else needs to happen," he said.
Frustrated with the persistent high-speed joyrides and the lack of consequences, Gualtieri shoved his finger into the podium, calling the juvenile system broken. He pointed to the teens' extensive criminal records — 126 arrests among them, including several for auto theft — as proof that the juvenile system rarely holds a kid for long. No consequences equals no fear of doing it again, he said.

For those not watching the linked “response” from radicals. It’s hard to listen to partially because the candidate for councilwoman who speaks, does so in an angry tirade.
She shouts and shouts that the police are murdering black people and that the police department “murdered” three black children last year (laughed while they drown and 17 first responders made no urgent effort to rescue), and murdered these three yutes. She alleges there is no proof that they stole a car but IF it had been stolen, racism results in the attitude that a piece of property is more important that black childrens’ lives. She calls for revolution, that the “murderous” police department be put under black community control, for reparations, for the entire “murderous” police department to be driven out of the community so they will kill no more. All of this at a grating tirade shout-y voice.
Starting at the 19:15 mark, she rants, “White people, you are on stolen land, living on stolen resources, based on stolen labor and stolen lives, ...” She says it’s all slander and lies concocted to make the murdered children seem like they were at fault.
It seems to be her bid to be elected to the council as their representative - she looks like a high school I note this is the first time I have heard UHURU used as a greeting/battle cry/creed. I thought Uhuru was the communications officer aboard the star ship Enterprise. There are revolution call/answer chants before and after speakers. The speakers approaching the mic start with the greeting, “Uhuru.” Around the 21:10 mark, the next speakers (high school students) are introduced as “Komrad”. I am not making this up.
The 16 year old who speaks says that within 10 minutes of learning that his friends had died, he encountered the slander the police, news etc. were using against the boys who died and he included Trevon and Brown as similar slander victims. He says the police (including police chief by name) are the thugs. He said for those who are asking “WHo raised these thugs,” (and he asserts they are not thugs), he asks, “Who raised these thugs who care more about stolen cars then lives.” This “abuse” is part of the reason why he joined the “International Peoples Democratic Uhuru Movement” (InPDUM) He says when he goes back to school he will recruit every black teen he meets and then he broke into their revolutionary chant, “TOUCH ONE! TOUCH ALL! without moving back from the mic so a) I understood what they were saying and b) it was LOUD.
THe next speaker around 25 min mark reiterated the police murdered (drowned) 3 black children last year etc. He speaks of the way they are afraid of cop cars (more cop cars then ice cream trucks) and called the cops terrorists.
At 26:16 mark, the speaker says the police have once again executed black children. She read offensive posts on a news article saying things like, “It’s good they died,” “Justice is served.” She says the racist view that whites have of black children being the most dangerous criminals is so thoroughly entrenched in the white collective consciousness that police forces reside on elementary, middle school and high school grounds. (Editor’s note: So the police were bigots and indifferent when they weren’t on school grounds and now they are on school grounds because they are bigots?) She says white people have no right to demand submission of black people to the police because they’ve (police) have shown time and time again they are only present in the black community to oppress. She then supports the candidates running for office (mayor and council woman). She also supports the reparations asked for and these are the control of the police, the right to hire/fire/train the police etc.
Mayoral candidate (white)speaks and says Palm Harbor police murdered those three children and later refers to the police as a murderous gang who lynched the children. He says re the “murdered girls” last year - weapon of choice was water. These three boys who were murdered yesterday - weapon of choice was fire. He said before we heard the names of the children the slander machine was already at work touting extensive rap sheet which he notes includes a charge of “loitering” which is a hold over from JIm Crow laws. He said the police chief who spoke of these murders had the “blank stare of a serial killer” while claiming without evidence that every theft in the area (recent) had been committed by these children whose bodies had just been consumed by fire, and then “Like clockwork, we get the “stolen car” line, a familiar refrain of the police department of sadists via the “supplicant mouthpiece” known as the Tampa Bay Times. “Stolen car, Stolen car, and we are supposed to nod our heads and think ‘well good I’m glad they were able to retrieve the cars’ never mind trauma for a whole community, never mind the fact that you can’t charge dead people with crimes, never mind the fact that car theft is not a capital offence, never mind evidence, we’re just supposed to go along with the underlying assumption of Gaultiera (sp Police chief) and the Tampa Bay Times that a car is more valuable than a human life as long as that life belonged to a black teenager.”

Yeah, his insurance can sue the famblees of the dead criminals after those famblees get some settlement from the city, blaming the LEO for the car chase that led to their deaths.
