Public defenders in Baltimore say hundreds of criminal cases could be tossed out after two incidents discovered on police body cameras this summer show officers allegedly planting drug evidence.
So far some 40 criminal cases have been dropped, mostly involving drug and weapons-related felonies.
But lawyers there say that's just the beginning.
"I would say there are hundreds and hundreds of cases directly affected between the two cases," Debbie Katz Levi, director of special litigation for Baltimore's Office of the Public Defender tells NPR. "I think it's safe to say if you included all of the officers, you're probably at around 500 cases."

Outlaws vs. outlaws.
What could possibly go wrong.
“What could possibly go wrong.”
The Police State Cheerleading Squad will have to put a whole lot of thought into rationalizing this one;
Gotta wonder if they forgot about the body cams or if they didn’t think anyone would see the footage.
Once again one or two bad apples ruin the entire bushel.
Narc squads have more than one or two.
Most are probably bad apples.
Yep. They must be stupid cops. They don’t know how to turn the camera off while they commit a crime?
Try 7 bad apples who were suspended in this case, plus those involved in a similar case a couple of weeks ago.
From a Baltimore Sun article:
The public learned from the first questionable video released this summer that Baltimores body cameras are continually recording a short loop of footage even when theyre turned off, so that when an officer activates the camera, the device preserves the previous 30 seconds of tape, though with no sound. Thats why we were able to see Officer Richard Pinheiro appear to place a baggie of drugs in a soup can in an alley, walk back to the corner, turn his camera on, walk back and find" the drugs.Baltimore Sun article:
Somebody forgot to pay off the cops—oops.
Wow,
I’ve heard that Baltimore cops aren’t the cream of the crop, but wow.
I live 30 miles north of Baltimore. My office is based there but I work at home or on the road.
The office is in a gentrified area and has been pretty safe until recently. A street thug murder on the campus two weeks ago has everyone on edge, as it should.
Maryland doesn’t help at all because they don’t allow honest citizens the right of self protection with firearms. The second Amendment does not apply in Maryland. Our liberal lawmakers know better.
In reality, it looks like you’re on your own.
A few years ago, on a trip to Mexico, our driver saw some cops and said he didn’t know if they were police, cartel or both.

Funny, I didn’t see any Articles about Police facing LIFE IN PRISON for Possession, Possession with the Intent to Sell, and Distribution of Narcotics......Possession of a Firearm while Distributing Narcotics.
Sure sounds like a Life Sentence to me.
That's the thing about this that I find so funny. They were busted big time because they didn't understand the tech they were using. Sadly, they won't be making this mistake in the future. Now they know better.
Such wonderful people.
