I can attest to this. My daughter is enrolling as a Freshman at Texas Tech, and at the orientation, at least 60-70% of the incoming Freshman I saw were girls.
Women went over 50% of the college enrollments and graduates in the area of undergraduates as well as graduate and professional schools years ago.
Inequality? After all of the years of lamenting, and pushing programs to get more women into colleges and professional fields it seems they won the battle but refuse to admit victory. Men are still the enemy, and every attempt to marginalize them to promote women is still ongoing.
At my sons college graduation is seemed like 85% of the graduates were female. Nobody in my family noticed.
Ten years ago I used to give a talk every semester to the Premeds at a local State U. I was not surprised to see the classes were less than 5% white male. Mostly racial minorities, almost all female. This was ten to eight years ago. I am certain it is worse now.
At that campus as I was walking to and fro, the students were well over 90% female.
ohhh to be a college age male at that school...
