The recently confirmed secretary of the Navy says he will follow any order the president gives on transgender troops, but that “any patriot” should be allowed to serve.
“We will process and take direction of a policy that is developed by the [Defense] secretary [with] direction from the president and march out smartly,” Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer told reporters Thursday night after visiting Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia.
"On a fundamental basis, any patriot that wants to serve and meets all the requirements should be able to serve in our military"
Spencer was confirmed a week after President Trump tweeted that he plans to ban transgender people from serving in the military.

Therein lies the problem.
Certain requirements would have to be waived to accommodate so-called transgenders, due to their complex status.
He hasn't broken with anyone. He's made it clear that if and when any policy changes regarding transgender sailors are handed down by the Secretary of Defense then he will carry out those changes to the best of his ability.
The ball is in the President's court. No instructions have been given to the Defense Department concerning transgender. A tweet isn't sufficient. If the President is serious about banning transgender then he needs to give the Secretary of Defense a formal policy to follow.

Few people know Obongo put women on the subs and it is a mess. It was my hope Trumps Navy Sec would fix it. I guess I can forget that. This guy is right on the edge of Insubordination he said he would carry out the policy of the CIC but I have never seen a Secretary criticize a CIC in such a public way. Toss this worthless leftist now.

The Navy secretary was basically promoting serving in the military. Reading the article, he said he would follow the president’s order. The fact that he said “any” makes me wonder if he hasn’t communicated with the troops, from what I’ve been reading.

I had a minor in psychology in college (late 1980’s) and back then, even being gay was considered a mental illness, according to the DSM.
And transgender people who go through the transition have a higher suicide rate. It is very sad, really. These people need help, not “cutting and pasting,” so to speak.
Yet, Hollywood celebrates these people. I took a scriptwriting class and at least half of the men in there were gay. Perhaps the creative genes contribute to that. But push it to the extreme (a.k.a. surgery) and you end up with depression, misery and regret.
