Trump Campaign Officials Rebuffed Volunteer’s Attempts To Broker Meeting With Russian Government

Top officials on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign rebuffed requests from a lower level volunteer seeking meetings between the then-real estate mogul and Russian government, according to email exchanges leaked to The Washington Post.

According to The Post, George Papadopoulos, an energy consultant, sent a half-dozen emails to Trump campaign officials suggesting and requesting meetings between Trump and members of the Russian government, including Vladimir Putin.

The campaign emails, which were read to The Post by an unidentified source, reveal a previously-undisclosed connection between a member of the Trump campaign and the Russian government. Papadopoulos indicated in some of the emails that he had contacts close to the Russian government.

But the exchanges also run counter to the allegations that the campaign colluded with the Russian government prior to the election.

That’s because Papadopoulos, a former research fellow at the conservative Hudson Institute, had his requests for meetings shot down by campaign officials, including policy director Sam Clovis.

Papadopoulos sent his first inquiry on March 24, 2016, just three days after he was announced as an adviser on the campaign. In an email to Clovis, which had the subject line, “Meeting with Russian Leadership – Including Putin,” Papadopoulos suggested “a meeting between us and the Russian leadership to discuss US-Russia ties under President Trump.”

Clovis opposed the idea.

“We thought we probably should not go forward with any meeting with the Russians until we have had occasion to sit with our NATO allies,” Clovis responded, according to The Post.

Chuck Kubic, a retired rear admiral and campaign foreign policy adviser, also cautioned against the request.

“Just want to make sure that no one on the team outruns their headlights and embarrasses the campaign,” he wrote.

I’m sure CNN will run 24/7 with this.

I read through this yesterday. This little dude was doing his own thing and was told to bug off. He continued. It sure shows that the Trump people were on the ball.

As for the meet with the Russian chick...she was a lobbyist. Those at the meet had nothing to say to her, certainly did not express any policy on the matter.

I do believe that the son's response was to find out what the hell was going on and not excitement over something on Hillary... which is why he brought along the other boys who knew more than himself. Basically, I think Trump's team was investigating her....cuz that's the only thing that makes sense.

At this point, the Trump haters have so much invested in hating him that they will never change their minds.

Not only do I now believe that this entire “Russian collusion” theme was simply created by 0bama, Hillary, and the DNC, but I also think that it was a preconceived idea, that they had set up months in advance. They likely set up the Russian lawyer and this guy, trying to get some on team Trump to take the bait.

Manufactured scandal - what better way to interfere with the election? They are truly evil.

Oops. That wasn't supposed to get out.

I’m waiting for Maddow to do her “previously undisclosed e-mail show connection between Trump campaign and Russians.” Of course her lack of ethics will make sure she doesn’t include the “connection” was a volunteer who was pushing for meetings between Trump and his campaign and the Russians and that ALL were rebuked. That is the part that unethical, dishonest _itch will ignore.

How much is known about this guy? I’d like to know a little more about his prior associations, just popping onto the campaign team three days prior to starting to lobby for Russia.

Sounds too much like that entrapment crap with the Russian female lawyer setting up a meeting with Don, Jr., she worked with Fusion GPS.

Does Mr. Papadopolous have any associations with Fusion GPS?

JANUARY 2016 : (CLINTON CAMPAIGN ADVISOR ALEXANDRA CHALUPA “FEELS” THERE IS A “RUSSIA CONNECTION” -—See MANAFORT) -— Clinton 2016 campaign advisor, former Clinton aide, DNC consultant and “Ukrainian-American operative” Alexandra Chalupa as the leader of the attacks on Manafort.
In January 2016 — MONTHS BEFORE Manafort had taken any role in Trump’s campaign — Chalupa told a senior DNC official that, when it came to Trump’s campaign, “I felt there was a Russia connection. And that, if there was, that we can expect Paul Manafort to be involved in this election.” http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/ukraine-sabotage-trump-backfire-233446
Alexandra Chalupa said the embassy (the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington) also worked directly with reporters researching Trump, Manafort and Russia to point them in the right directions. - http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/ukraine-sabotage-trump-backfire-233446

The Podesta Group charged Sberbank 20,000 dollars per month, plus expenses, from March through Sept. 2016 in their bid to end U.S. sanctions. I saw a pretty convincing argument from a far left radio show - Jimmy Dore - that was a poll Hillary's team took that showed the Uranium One deal was her biggest negative. The Clinton Campaign decided then to start the Trump/Russia narrative. In short, she saddled Trump with her biggest negative.

The way the radio’s news says it, it sounds like Papadopolous was nabbed in a sting with FBI posing as Russians with dirt on Hillary.

In other words, it was a setup for the Russian collusion claim all along but not to get Papadopolous... if he was nabbed in a sting as the news implied, then in all likelihood the agents were really trying to use Popadopolous to snare Trump into meeting with the Russians.

This Papadopolous guy was trying very hard to get Trump to meet with the Russians and I suspect he was put up to it in order to trap Trump.

It was Sessions who shot down Papadopolous’s efforts to ensnare Trump :
