A government failure in Charlottesville
Wastington Examiner ^ | August 14,2017 | By Washington Examiner

Posted on 08/15/2017 8:25:40 AM PDT by Hojczyk

The first failing was that of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer, and the police in failing to separate the Nazis from the counter-protesters who showed up to meet them.

Ahead of the event, the Washington Examiner's Tom Rogan warned against the city's attempt to relocate the Nazis from their desired place of protest. He pointed out that the more sensible course would be to allow them to protest in Emancipation Park as a way to contain them and keep the counter-protestors away from them.

The authorities instead chose to allow the warring

factions to intermingle, with predictable results. Charlottesville became a small war zone. Making matters much worse, the police were apparently ordered to stand by as the various factions beat each other bloody.

But McAuliffe and Signer failed in their responsibility to defend Heather Heyer and Jason Kessler from violence and to preserve freedom of speech. They seem to want to camouflage their failures with ringing denunciations of white supremacists. Disgust with those white supremacists should, however, be a given in a liberal democratic society. It doesn't exculpate incompetent government leaders when they fail in their pre-eminent duty to keep citizens safe.

Exactly, they wanted violence and now have blood on their hands - they should be embarrassed and prosecuted.

Whose bright idea was this, and who gave police the order to stand down and watch the fighting?

It would have been better for the police to have gone and given out parking tickets to illegally parked cars, than to stand down and watch the violence. This reinforces the fact that violence will not have consequences.

There should be plenty of lawsuits against the City and the police

And lots of condemnation of the racist, sexist “homophobic” Vice Mayor

As well as investigation and exposure of Soros and cronies

Looking at several pictures of the car.... that’s an awful lot of damage. I have seen cars that have hit deer at full speed with less damage.
So, is it possible, his life was being threatened? What would I do if someone was about to pull me out of my car? Let me tell you..
I was driving home late, almost midnight after my shift when a truck with three men in it pulled up beside me at a red light. Hey mommie mom nice...at me? Are you freaking kidding? I pulled my nine closer in my lap and proceeded to the next red light.. I stopped a car length behind them, so I could see all exit points. My thoughts were only about getting home. I would defend myself if needed, even if I had to run one over in my TT.

They’ve basically proven the point that you have to maintain a defensive capability. You might as well refer to them as the Barney Fife-Corps....they have no real purpose if they aren’t there to protect and defend.

So, Did Police Just Stand Around As Charlottesville Descended Into Chaos?

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2017/08/14/so-did-police-just-stand-around-as-charlottesville-descended-into-chaos-n2368410

I know personally that in the 1970s after the 1968 riots, police were trained in what was called “RIOT CONTROL”.

In the 1980s and 1990s that training was re-classified to
“CROWD CONTROL” in order to give a more softer name to what was basically the same riot control police training.

In the 21st Century that training was modified to be gentler and kinder with that training now called:

“CROWD MANAGEMENT”

However, recently after ‘Ferguson’ and Michael Brown, police are receiving training in:

‘Standing around’, ‘watching’, (The three monkeys method of police operation today - ‘Hear no evil, See no evil, say no evil’ - with ‘Run and hide’ as the official ‘Retreat’ method ordered by directive per orders to their police chiefs from Democrat run city political leaders.

Good thing no one thought to wrap a Labradoodle in an Antifa flag. The cops would have wasted every last one of them!

The authorities instead chose to allow the warning factions to intermingle, with predictable results. Charlottesville became a small war zone. Making matters much worse, the police were apparently ordered to stand by as the various factions beat each other bloody.

Doug McKelway: “We are now beginning to hear criticism bubble up on all sides of this event about the initial slow response by the police. When I got out of my car yesterday in Charlottesville about 10:30 in the morning you knew this was a bad scene and bad things were going to be happening because people were congregating at Lee Park and Emancipation Park wearing helmets, body armor, carrying big heavy sticks. Nobody was intent on peace here from either side. People were intent on causing havoc and causing damage. And even as wounded were being brought out of the park police were sitting idly by. I was standing off a cordoned off area where the police had set up as a staging area, the state police, and they said you can come in here this is a safe area. But when the tear gas started to fly, thrown by protesters, the police themselves began to evacuate then. I asked the guy who was in charge, “Where you going?” He said, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.” They had a chance to nip this thing in the bud and they chose not to.” http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3576878/posts

There seems to be vile collusion between liberal mayors and the violent forces, who hate Trump, by prohibiting their police from protecting Trump supporters from BLMers, Antifa and other hired left wing thugs

This collusion appeared to be very evident at Charlottesville this past weekend.

Remember the riots in San Jose when Trump came to speak? The San Jose cops under orders from their liberal mayor let Trump supporters be harassed, attacked and chased by hired thugs.

Then, the first UC Berkeley riots last year were a replication of the San Jose attacks on Trump supporters. The cops were under orders from the mayor to let the Antifa thugs run wild to harm, harass and chase our people away.

The mayor of Charlottesville, apparently attended UC Berkeley. So, he would have been very familiar with how to set up riots like this by controlling his police like the Berkeley mayor did!

I posted shortly after the Berkeley riots had started, “That my wife had asked during the early so called tv news why the cops just stood by watched our people being attack?”

I told her, that it was apparent the cops had orders not to protect our people.

It is real simple. In any city with a police force, the mayor and maybe the city council tell their police chief what his/her cops can and cannot do in these situations.

So the individual cops with their mortgages, kids in braces and maxed out credit cards just stand by when our people are attacked without any police protection.

Remember, when the mayors shut down their cops at Chicago and later, in other cities did nothing when the anti Trump protesters tried to shut Trump down in his appearances in 2016!

In the above riots/near riots, the mayors and their mediots blamed Trump and his voters, never the criminal rioters and paid Antifa Thugs!

Wasn’t a “failure”...it was intentional and probably premeditated.

The default position of politicians and media is that extremist on the right are evil and that extremist on the left are justified. In this case, the right wing extremist were outnumbered and the calculation was that they would be beat down by the “good” faction so the police were ordered to stand down. Unfortunately, someone was killed and the narrative was changed. The “justified” beat down could no longer be used so they had to go to the back up plan of blaming the President for his reaction. It would have made no difference what President Trump said Saturday, he was the designated fall guy.

Calling it a failure denotes incompetence. This was intentional. The Democrats want to foster violence between the protestors and Antifa. It is part of their plan.

Are the Democrats evil or stupid?

Evil is the obvious answer.

San Jose did the same thing a year ago last June in San Jose.
That is what happens in democrat run cities, only democrats have their rights respected.

Even worse, the unresponsive police encourage the violent left when they see there are no consequences to violent behavior, and the peaceful see police and presume they are protected.

Would be better if the police were to run and hide!

The local and state governments didn't fail.

The confrontation was planned and carried out by them.

They tried to shut the rally down by revoking the permit but a judge reinstated the permit the day before the rally.

So the day of the rally at the last minute they declared a State of Emergency and shut the rally down.

Then they forced the rally attendees to leave the area by the two exits on the street where the ANTIFA people were waiting for them with clubs and bats.
