White House Strategist Steve Bannon continued to ridicule Democrats for focusing all of their political energy on race divisions, claiming they had no idea what inspired President Donald Trump’s supporters to vote for him.
“This past election, the Democrats used every personal attack, including charges of racism, against President Trump. He then won a landslide victory on a straightforward platform of economic nationalism,” Bannon wrote in an email to the Washington Post. “As long as the Democrats fail to understand this, they will continue to lose. But leftist elites do not value history, so why would they learn from history?”
As Trump faces criticism from Republicans and dissent from his own advisers, Bannon is trying to refocus the media narrative on the president’s economic agenda.
In an interview with the American Prospect, Bannon also gave his frank assessment of the Democrat’s agenda.
“The Democrats, the longer they talk about identity politics, I got ’em. I want them to talk about racism every day,” he said. “If the left is focused on race and identity, and we go with economic nationalism, we can crush the Democrats.”

To a large degree, he’s right. If Trump loses the economy, he will lose his base. Until then, his other failings will be rationalized as not an issue.

Tensions between Bannon, Ivanka Trump, as well as her husband and fellow White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, escalated due to Bannon’s concern that “Javanka” — his nickname for the couple — were working to soften key policies positions like those regarding immigration.
If the Democrats would drop race politics and adopted economic nationalist policies(tariffs) I would switch parties in a nano second. But that is like asking a leopard to change his spots. For now I am stuck with the GOP. Globalist Oligarch Party.
I wish people would stop saying Trump won in a landslide. What he did was incredible enough without saying that. A landslide is considered by most as winning by at least 8%, with over 400 EVS and at least winning 35 sates.
The last landslide was Bush in 1988
Neither does the Republican establishment.
The problem is who are we going to vote for...The GOP is a waste of time..
