Glenn Beck's The Blaze is enforcing 20% layoffs on its staff, a major sign of distress, all the more curious because the election of Donald Trump pretty well showed how significant the potential reader base out there might be. After all, most conservative websites are either doing well, or holding their own in the current tough media environment. Breitbart doesn't seem to have any trouble hiring new people, as the re-entry of Steve Bannon and maybe Sebastian Gorka can testify. Breitbart has also been expanding its overseas operations. The Wall Street Journal editorial page has been hiring, the Daily Caller seems to be picking up new talent.
So, what did Beck in? I can only speak for myself as a reader, but if you ask me, it was Beck himself. The guy just couldn't keep a steady editorial line. He puffed and pontificated, taking himself from tea party stalwart to the guy who was always complaining about conservatives, the very thing that did Jeb Bush in. Not to mention, he bawled a lot. But style points aside, his big problem was that in an era of Trump, he didn't like Trump. And it wasn't because he was a swamper, which has a certain logic, it was because he invented himself some biblical apocalyptic vision and cooked up a rationalization from it that Trump was a bad guy. Or something.

He bet the huge farm (read: his company, "The Blaze") financially on a Clinton win.
He lost.
Now, he's pissed, scared, and lashing out.
Glenn Beck: Electing Hillary Clinton Is a Moral, Ethical Choice
So, Beck did not support Hillary, but he said that Trump should be opposed even if it elected Hillary. Potato, Potahto.
Glenn Beck is the reason he’s going down. He went off his meds. He ranted about Trump. He got maudlin and weepy. Cannot listen to him ever at all.
Ghostery used to spit out the Add's etc it blocked from him, the list was always over 70 sites wanting your data, so much for worrying about Team Obama wanting all our data right.... I tried to sign up for one of his 9 dollar or 99 cent specials to be an Insider and I swear I couldn't do it or needed a secret decoder ring, and I am pretty tech savvy. What the frig, that was no way to run a railroad....
Laura Ingraham, some Hannity, but Howie Carr, and Jeff Kuhner for 12 to 3 WRKO out of Boston 680am, if he ever goes national I think he will give Rush a run for his money. Some local guys, Prager and once in a blue moon John Batchelor late night. I haven't heard Savage in a while, the locals dropped him. Other than that I dropped all our majors for their Never-Trumpism, and I ain't looking back...
PDJT exposed all the posers, and no you are not nuts, I could give a flying flip about sports, our popular culture, although I haven't cut the cord yet. You are not alone, we are finding "happy" without them or their mind-twaddle. Changed forever? you bet, my personal journey I realized the EGop was screwing me in 2010, Trump just took what I knew and gave me ( all of us ) a voice...
Such great news to start a long weekend. Eat shit and die Beck you quislling scumbag.
Duh...
It[s OK to be biased, as long as you are honest. Leftard media lie and claim to be unbiased when they are clearly all democrat shills. Hannity is conservative but proudly says so openly and honestly.
But Beck went nuts with his anti-trump spiel. It was hard to even listen. And the barking seals on the show with him echoed everything their Massah’ said, although a lie detector might have been swinging erratically- you can hear it in their voices they were mostly ass-kissing.
HE ruined a news empire- it was great to watch him create it. I tried to join him as it rose- but I am glad I didn’t now.
I hope all the families of people that work for him get together and tell him to TURN OVER LEADERSHIP to someone else before they all go down with the ship.
Beck tried to curry favor with the liberal MSM. Didn’t work.
Unless you consider hemorrhoids to be a cataclysmic disease. He went suicidal over that.
He was always overly grandiose about everything. His ego really messed him up. He’d bill some story as the biggest thing ever. He’d give a 30 minute sermon on how everyone needs to start being moral. Forgetting that he is supposed to be an entertainer and stop berating his audience.
Glenn Beck was awesome on FOX News. I still remember driving home from work, trying to beat the traffic, to make sure I was in from of the TV at 5PM. His shows were riveting.
When he moved to The Blaze I followed him, but he slowly started to lose it. I turned him off around 2011 or 12 and never returned.
This was so predictable. He will be broadcasting from his basement (ala Keith Olbermann) in a year or so.
Very sad. He could have been a contender.
A revival with no message is called grandstanding.
Was in grad school in the mid-70's and he was on live from a broadcast station in Hartford. He was a three piece polyester suit, clean-shaven guy at the time.
He would go off on his staff and crew on live TV. It was simultaneously disturbing and entertaining to watch.
I live in NH and I’m rarely in the car between 9 and noon. But once in a while I have to make an errand or take an early lunch and because my radio is tuned to the talk station (Rush 12-3 and Hannity 3-6).
I’ll hear Beck and wonder why the station keeps airing him. I mean does anyone who listens to Rush or Hannity still listen to this nut? I immediately turn the station.
Exactly. The old driver (Bobo) was simply a bad driver from another country...The new driver (Trump) was the next-door neighbor Beck would bark at all the time...
Unlike the old driver, the new driver knew just how to fast to go to keep Glenn hanging on to the bumper and drag him down the road...
That jump the shark moment happened years earlier when Beck talked suicide over simple butt surgery.
Well, Cruz lost and apparently you didn’t get the message. The campaign is over. Personally, I believe Beck didn’t do Cruz any favors. I cringed every time I saw them together.
But it was a campaign and you never Cruz people should look at his support for the President and let it go. Winners usually let things go. Good winners at least.
"How's your soul?" Remember that annoying shtick?
The few times I listened to him during the 2016 election, he had me convinced that he was voting for Hillary. I don’t think that it is a coincidence that a number of us believed that he did vote for her.
