WOOHOO!!! You’re getting rain at last! Sure do hope it puts those fires out.
Have another nice day with your son being around? You DO have extra food on hand, I take it. ;-)

Sweet and Sour
September 22, 2017
Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?
Job 2:10
When our toddler first bit into a lemon wedge, he wrinkled his nose, stuck out his tongue, and squeezed his eyes shut. Sow-wah, he said (sour).
I chuckled as I reached for the piece of fruit, intending to toss it into the trash.
No! Xavier scampered across the kitchen to get away from me. Moe-wah! (more). His lips puckered with every juice-squirting bite. I winced when he finally handed me the rind and walked away.
My taste buds accurately reflect my partiality to the sweet moments in life. My preference for avoiding all things bitter reminds me of Jobs wife, who seems to have shared my aversion to the sourness of suffering.
Job surely didnt delight in hardship or trouble, yet he honored God through heart-wrenching circumstances (Job 1:122). When painful sores afflicted Jobs body, he endured the agony (2:78). His wife told him to give up on God (v. 9), but Job responded by trusting the Lord through suffering and afflictions (v. 10).
Its natural to prefer avoiding the bitter bites in life. We can even be tempted to lash out at God when were hurting. But the Lord uses trials, teaching us how to trust Him, depend on Him, and surrender to Him as He enables us to persevere through difficult times. And like Job, we dont have to enjoy suffering to learn to savor the unexpected sweetness of sour momentsthe divine strengthening of our faith.
Thank You for assuring us that suffering is never wasted when we place our confidence in who You are, what Youve done, and what Youre capable of doing.
God uses suffering to strengthen our faith.
In the ancient story of Job, we see a devout follower of God whose life has been laid bare by financial, family, and physical suffering. The book of Job asks the perennial question, Why do the righteous suffer? Jobs ordeals test his devotion to his Redeemer and Provider. Clearly the book shows how God uses suffering to strengthen believers faith and refine their character. Job declares, But [God] knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold (Job 23:10).
Has God used a trial in your life to refine your character and strengthen your faith?

Well dang, missed ya tonight.
Sleep well and I hope your back forgives you by morning. You’re gonna be glad to get that fence finished, aren’t ya?
Sitting here wondering if anyone else will get that song stuck in their head like it’s stuck in mine. LOL!!!

Hiya radu!
It is nice getting some rain, we needed it!
LOL, when you have a constantly hungry young man, you have to get creative.
We had a big bacon and egg breakfast, with everything as usual.
For lunch I clipped some coupons out for Arby's and fed him and me some good French dips and loaded curly fries.
He had a few more snacks before he left but I'll always go out of my way to have him around, he's a good kid!
Wuz new with you and the 'lil darlins'?

Good evening, Pro...glad your weather has cooled off.
We have started multiple days of rain and flash flood warnings all over town.

I’ll bet y’all are thrilled to get rain. It’s been needed for a while.
Yep, I can see creativity and maybe an extra trip to the grocery store this week as being in order. Young men have hollow legs and holes in their toes, as my mom used to say about my brother. LOL! Can’t fill ‘em up.
Tail feathers are dragging a little this evening since I had to get up early today for a meeting. Could NOT go to sleep last night.
It didn’t help sitting outside with Churchill until a few minutes go. Listening to crickets and the few katydids still hanging around made me sleepy.

Howdy, radu!
Had an ok day. Still too hot to suit me. It’s nearly 10pm here and it’s 84 degrees. it should start a gradual cool-down tomorrow. We can hope!
Y’all still on the coolish side? Enjoy it...remember how hot it was? And it’ll be way better than the chill of late fall. I was watching it snow like crazy in JH this morning. Maybe it psychologically makes me feel cooler anyway. LOL!

I thought you’d mentioned a cool-down soon but couldn’t remember when it was supposed to start. I know you’re ready for it.
Been hot here all week and will stay that way for at least another week. Upper 80s and muggy. It was raining when I woke up this morning and was fairly cool when I left for the meeting, but the sun was out when the meeting was over and it was a sauna outside. Ugh!
At least the nights are comfy but with all the pollen in the air, we still keep the windows closed and the A/Cs going.
Still snowing at JH? They just might have a rough winter ahead since it’s starting so early. BRRRRR

The snowline is in the mountains, but it’s coming down closer to the valley each day. It’s an interesting cycle. But up on one of the peaks it looked like there was 4-6 inches already.
I hope the girls get skiis and ice skates this year! That’ll keep them busy!

I’ll have to take a peek tomorrow during the day. Never had a chance to get on the computer today until well after dark.
If they’re going to live up there, those girls had BETTER get skis and ice skates this year. LOL! Maybe we’ll get to see them skating in the park after Christmas.

That would be fun to watch! Better to watch from the warm house than from the side of the rink, right? :)
I haven’t heard any news about Maria today. I guess people are sick and tired of thinking about hurricanes.
How is Mr. Churchill feeling tonight? Hope he’s doing better!

Most definitely better to watch from the warm house than from the side of the rink! LOL! I still got goosebumps watching that cam last winter even though it was warm in the house.
I’ve been checking in on the live thread here and Storm2K for news on Maria. Everyone’s still waiting for that north turn that hasn’t happened yet. CNN’s had quite a bit of coverage of it plus the quake in Mexico the past couple of days too.
Churchill took a good turn last evening and is eating well now. Up until then, I was force-feeding him to keep him going. We sat outside on the deck for a while this evening, listening to crickets and katydids and enjoying some quiet time together. No other cats to bug us. I just got through giving him his midnight snack and he’s so much perkier now.

Churchill is special!
I guess I need to check the live thread. Can’t find much on YouTube for this one. It’s like all the ones eager before are like “meh” with Maria. LOL! She’s a mean one, too!

He's been my special guy since he was born. His momma rejected him so I raised him, and we've had a tight bond his whole life.
There's at least one FReeper who lives in Puerto Rico who checked in at last with a bit of a report about things there.
This link goes to the last page of the thread at Storm2K but you can go back to earlier pages and see several links to videos of conditions at various locations. It's going to be a long road ahead for those people before life regains some normalcy. :-(
