CBS will televise national anthem on 'Thursday Night Football'
Sporting News ^ | September 28, 2017 | by Michael McCarthy

Get your popcorn ready, as Terrell Owens would say.

Despite the controversy swirling around the Colin Kaepernick-inspired NFL player protests for racial justice, CBS Sports told Sporting News it will televise the playing of the national anthem before Thursday night's Packers-Bears game at Lambeau Field.

"The anthem will be live," promised CBS Sports spokeswoman Jennifer Sabatelle.

CBS is handling production on the game that will air on CBS Sports, NFL Network and Amazon Prime Video (8 p.m. ET).

There were loud boos heard in the home stadiums of the Jets, Cardinals and Lions. Will the same thing happen tonight at the Packers' historic home field?

Here's another question: If fans do scream and give the finger to protesting players, will CBS show them? We'll find out.

During Sunday's and Monday's game telecasts, league TV partners such as ESPN, Fox, NBC and CBS refused to show any angry fans — even though viewers could hear boos on the audio.

Not it’s not ending well for them. I see the NFL as bunch wealthy AH’s, black racist and leftist, shoving their politics down Americans throats A good percentage of them obviously hate this country and the rest going along with all this jackassery are clearly suffering from industrial strength stupidity.

. No more tax-exempt for NFL!

Whoa, hold on there, pardner...

The tax exemption only applies to the NFL’s central office. The NFL voluntarily relinquished its tax-exempt status in 2015. Individual teams pay taxes on their profits.

Lol! And why are they televising the anthem nowdays? It ain’t to honor it.... it is to allow the athletes their time of fame from protests.

Too bad their fame is actually infamy.

So what does that tell you? That the shenanigans are alright when it’s the home team?

Who gives a flip.

Take away the NFL’s subsidies and exemption from anti-trust law.

You know they’ll be on their best behaviour and hide anything embarrassing. Hopefully someone like LeBron can get a hashtag going where celebrities, NBA pros, and everyone else can post pictures/videos of themselves kneeling to make up for what CBS hides. CBS propaganda cannot be allowed to cover up hatred for the flag /sarc

Of course they will ... it’s controversial now. Before all of this hubbub, TV rarely aired the national anthem before games. Now all of a sudden they want to start showing them again?

This is why there is division in this country ... the media.

Neither team will take a knee tonight. As a matter of conversation, in my humble opinion, Jerry Jones was the encore act in taking a knee.

It’s over. After Sunday it will never be spoken about again since it backfired big time for the NFL and the America haters. Look for a gesture by the NFL sometime before Sunday’s games which will honor our nations veterans. Maybe in the form of a contribution.

BLM and its NFL supporters made their point, which was pointless and we made our point which would have cost teams and players billions.

Indeed. I wonder if the biggest idiots will defy them and take the whole thing down for them all. It’d only take a few, maybe even one.

My bet is that they’ll put all the cameras on for a staged “respectful anthem” and some moron player will STILL be on a knee - and the house of cards falls.

Got this in an e-Mail
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An open letter to the NFL players (and other equally stupid pro athletes)
You graduated high school in 2011. Your teenage years were a struggle. You grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Your mother was the leader of the family and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate. Academics were a struggle for you and your grades were mediocre at best. The only thing that made you stand out is you weighed 225 lbs and could run 40 yards in 4.2 seconds while carrying a football. Your best friend was just like you, except he didn’t play football. Instead of going to football practice after school, he went to work at McDonalds for minimum wage. You were recruited by all the big colleges and spent every weekend of your senior year making visits to universities where coaches and boosters tried to convince you their school was best. They laid out the red carpet for you. Your best friend worked double shifts at Mickey D’s. College was not an option for him. On the day you signed with Big State University, your best friend signed paperwork with his Army recruiter. You went to summer workouts. He went to basic training.
You spent the next four years living in the athletic dorm, eating at the training table. You spent your Saturdays on the football field, cheered on by adoring fans. Tutors attended to your every academic need. You attended class when you felt like it. Sure, you worked hard. You lifted weights, ran sprints, studied plays, and soon became one of the top football players in the country. Your best friend was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. While you were in college, he deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan twice. He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did. He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young American’s give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.
You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts. You hired an agent and waited for draft day. You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million although you had never played a single down of professional football. Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year.
You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach. He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers. You will sleep at the Ritz. He will dig a hole in the ground and try to sleep. You will “make it rain” in the club. He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 120 degrees.
On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name. For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week. There are no adoring fans. There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and “go to the rear” to rest. He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV. When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television. While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country.
To the players of the NFL: We are the people who buy your tickets, watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys. We anxiously wait for Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism. Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you. We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth. We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right. But now you have gone too far. You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country. I am done with NFL football, the NBA, and Major League Baseball and encourage all likeminded Americans to boycott all pro sports until the light goes on for these crybabies and their rich owners who are afraid to speak up lest their spoiled brats (felons, wife-beaters) who are, in most cases, unable to even speak English in any understandable manner.
Anyone who confuses respect for our Anthem and our flag with the right to support BLM and ANTIFA is just plain ignorant. Use your freedom of speech in the proper forum and stop trying to hide behind your freedoms to relieve your ignorance. BLM and ANTIFA are issues totally unrelated to respect for our flag and our anthem. Your claim to freedoms are bogus and you should ask yourselves what is it you have ever done to earn them.
PS Trying to excuse your actions by highlighting the actions of our President on matters such as this is pure unadulterated BS. Whether he is right or wrong in his criticisms does not relieve you of your stupidity.
Ya know, I’ve seen some of these pro sports people close at LAX on occasion...And I have never seen such big mouthed AH’s in my entire life. They want to be seen a in very big way even off the field..The NBA and NFL types were some of THE worst.
