Firing Robert Mueller is a media invention. Always has been.
But it was resurrected on Tuesday by Roger Stone. The informal adviser to President Trump offered his opinion, eagerly solicited by reporters, that the president should sack the special counsel because his impartiality is hopelessly compromised by a myriad of conflicts of interests.
Stone was correct, in part. Mueller is deeply conflicted. The day after being interviewed and rejected by President Trump to become the new FBI Director, Mueller turned around and accepted the job as special counsel. In the span of 24 hours, Mueller went from asking to work for the president to investigating him. It was quite the summersault. At the very least, it created the appearance of impropriety which disqualifies him.
Yet, Mueller accepted the position anyway, even though he also knew the key witness in any potential obstruction of justice case would be his longtime friend, ally and partner, James Comey. This constitutes yet another conspicuous conflict of interest, as I have explained in previous columns.
But the mainstream media has seized on Stones recent statement to once again whip up a frenzy of conjecture that the president will fire Mueller. It is not the first time.
For months there has been rampant speculation in print and television that Trump was on the precipice of firing the special counsel. Perhaps this is because the press knows, but would never admit, that Mueller deserves it. But mostly it is because the media would love to use Muellers termination as an excuse to demand Trumps impeachment.
The president is smarter than that...

Maybe then Jeff “Fireball” Sessions could appoint another investigator to investigate Mueller?
Make the farce complete. This dog will not only not hunt, it has expired. It’s as dead as disco.
The problem is, Mueller can catch someone in a testimony trap.
When people testify they do the best they can, but sometimes you don’t remember clearly or you make an innocent mistake.
Then guys like Mueller prosecute, to make it look like their investigation did turn something up.
I am still very leery about some of Trump’s family and political team members, getting through this cleanly.
I am of the opinion that the special counsel authorization SHOULD have had 3 constraints:
1) budget
2) time
3) scope

........
That’s actually a very good idea...I wish it would happen.
DJT is incredibly naive to think that being innocent means anything with these pigs.
Yep, I see your point. At the same time it’s pretty clear already the Russia thing is bogus and it’s also pretty clear Mueller is on a witch hunt.
I think Jarrett is right about Trump not firing Mueller, can you imagine the hay the Rats would make out of that if he did.
>I am of the opinion that the special counsel authorization SHOULD have had 3 constraints:
The Special Counsel regulations require limits placed on an investigation. Rosenrat ignored the regs and placed no limits when he set up the investigation. It’s been an illegitimate witch hunt from the start.
Yes, I can.
He may be forced into it though.
I read a short reference to Don Jr. making some comments and having to adjust them later. I don’t want folks to form an opinion off this reference, but it did concern me.
Will he be charged with false testimony due to an error in memory?
If he is, I would back Trump to pardon him and fire Mueller at once. I’d blast that guy so far out of the water, that he’d have shell sock for a decade after.
Neither did Scooter Libby.
If it should come to that I would agree, Mueller is a slime ball in my view as well as his friend Comey and the leftist lawyers Mueller has hired.
Amen...Powell and Armitage should have gone to prison over that fiasco.
The left wants Trump to fire Mueller to add to their impeachment narrative. Trump is too smart and won’t give these scum the satisfaction.

Sessions couldn’t find his a$$ with both hands and a flashlight!
We are most of the , FRiend. :-)
I know, and I am glad.

This BS rodeo is going to keep going into the midterm elections and watch for a spike in investigations,leaks/unnamed sources, fake news, impeachment talk, and media wetting themselves.
Not to mention Patrick Fitzgerald.
He knew from the very beginning it was Richard Armitage, but he kept churning and churning until he caught Libby in a “perjury” trap.
Libby’s only mistake was agreeing to talk to the guy in the first place because he thought he had nothing to fear because he was innocent.
Don’t talk to police (or special prosecutors)

I agree.
The other problems with Mueller are:
1. He is bringing many, many hard core leftists into the government.
2. Those armies of leftists lawyers and associated assistants are being paid on the taxpayer dime.
3. The longer this goes on, the more it casts doubts on the Trump administration. The constant accusations take their toll on the national mood and Trump’s ability to get things done.
Maybe there is a small silver lining to this giant cloud. On the plus side, perhaps the investigators are constructing the gallows on which THEY will be hung. Perhaps Trump is giving them enough rope. It is also a pretty good litmus test to find out who is on which side.
