The Democrats are really desperate to construct some sort of "Katrina redux" out of these hurricanes. They were stymied in Texas and Florida with the first two but they now see an opportunity with the third hurricane in Puerto Rico.

This is why they are coaching the mayor there to turn on Trump and start giving media interviews that Trump is not acting fast enough and insinuating that perhaps he is giving the people of Puerto Rico short shrift because he does not like Hispanic people or some such nonsense.

Meanwhile, the media is staked out there, sitting on their hands looking for opportunities to show that Trump is a mean and uncaring president and any PR public official that wants to speak out against Trump will be immediately surrounded by a dozen cameras held by well-fed and well-sheltered media types.

It's not going to work of course. President Trump and Melania will be there in a few days and the whole world will see first-hand not only the extent of the devastation but also the massive U.S. led efforts that have already been in place there for many days, beginning almost immediately after the hurricane.

The Democrats will be disappointed again because what they really want to portray is an island nation left to fend for itself while Trump sits in Washington eating double scoops of ice cream.

You would think that out of precaution, these island communities would have underground waterproof bunkers where they could store massive amounts of water and basic long lasting emergency food IN PREPARATION for inevitable hurricanes and floods, and that they would do so days in advance because they know days in advance that disaster may very likely hit them. If the hurricane misses- sell the basic food and water-

They knew well in advance that disaster was coming and did very little to prepare

Trump should reply- “No Madame- UNIONS are killing your people out of greed- take it up with them after you get your facts straight”

Yes. Obama passed the magic wand to Hilary. She has it now, but it no longer works.

Once again, the unions help kill everything they touch.

[The association of truckers of Puerto Rico Unions are fighting with FEMA.]

Years ago troops would be deployed to push them aside. This is criminal activity pure and simple.

My husband told me this several days ago. He said the truckers won’t move the shipments without being paid large sums of money. Yeah, tell me again how unions are so important.

Union scum everywhere.

Sounds tribal. Somalian. Using a crisis for personal gain. Not American.

As to the truckers, isn’t there a law against price gouging during a natural disaster?

Everything good. Exhausted!

Mom and Dad still don’t have power, although they got water the other day. They live 2 miles away from each other. They LOVE Trump! The US govt. has done a lot for islanders and most islanders realize this and are very grateful. They’re looking forward to Trump’s visit on Tuesday. Best!

One can drop the failure of this island squarely on the shoulders of none other than Theodore Roosevelt. After the Spanish American war this country rid itself of mostly all the spoils of that war. He complied with all of it but Guam and Puerto Rico. In a flowing letter to the Secretary of State, he insisted that the Caribbean island was in our hemisphere and inhabited with like minded people. He suggested that we owed them a secure future as Americans. So here we are.

Prayers for your Dad, family members and friends in PR.

Below is the reality of why relief is not getting to the people who need the relief:

So I just sent a message to Mike Tobin of Fox News, who is in Puerto Rico, asking him to find Puerto Ricans who agree with and support Trump’s response to the disaster. So far, I’ve been watching CNN and MSNBC decimating Trump and interviewing Puerto Ricans who agree with the Diva Mayor of San Juan. Trust Me: More Puerto Ricans support and favor Trump’s response than their Mayor. My Dad has known her for decades and even he is FURIOUS at her. Let’s see if Fox News follows through....

Hard decisions? Methinks it’s independence. Cut them off like a cancer. He could empty half of the NY jails that way. Throw in more than a few that ‘claim’ to be Puerto Rican who want freedom.

However, the General would be running the show. Same as MacArthur did in Japan.

Mac was in charge of a nation of industrious people not a bunch of gimme gimmes
