Former Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department employee Gilberto Escaramillo missed work one day in August for a medical appointment, the same day a delivery driver called the kitchen about having 800 pounds of fajitas to drop off, the paper said.
A woman informed the driver that the juvenile department didn't serve the Tex-Mex food - but the driver said he'd been delivering it for nine years, Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz told the Herald.
“When Mr. Escaramilla reports to work the next day, he is confronted with the discussion and he admits he had been stealing fajitas for nine years,” Saenz said.

The recipient never reported them because he had ordered them but never served them. He stole them and did who knows what with them. $1.2 million dollars worth of fajitas. He did it for 9 years.
That is a LOT of fajitas. LOL!
And are they going to be able to sell them before they go bad?

I bet there are a lot of taco trucks selling fajitas in the area.
The county paid for them and he sold them thru his business.
I would guess he was eating some & selling the rest to restaurants that did serve them.

It was over NINE YEARS. They don’t have $1.2 million worth of fajita materials to move now, that’s what the total was over 9 yrs.
Escaramilla was fired that month and arrested after investigators obtained a search warrant and found packages of the Tex-Mex food in his refrigerator, Saenz explained.
They also checked invoices and determined he would intercept county-funded food deliveries and deliver them to his own customers, according to the newspaper.
What a DUMBASS! A doctors appt and he didn’t check for calendar conflicts???
He racked up $1.2 million dollars in stolen food products that they never use and no one caught it?
They need a new accounting firm.

One of the biggest, most common complaints about government workers is incompetence. All this guy did was order, receive, and initial the invoice for somebody else to pay. What the ‘H’ it was authorized so the bill was paid. He got away with it for nine years. He lived well, and ate free.
DANG those medical appointments.
Blame it on Obamacare.
