Welcome to country life. What you describe is the kind of country I live in here in Missouri. Good, salt of the earth folks. So glad you made it there, much better quality of life.

Thanks for the inspiring post...here is some good news to share with your neighbors:

President Trump is thrilled with West Virginia. At a boisterous campaign-style rally Thursday, Trump extolled the state’s strong first quarter economic growth — growth he said few expected.

“We had 3 percent growth in West Virginia. I wonder how that happened,” Trump told cheering supporters. “Three percent growth. West Virginia is leading the average. When was the last time we heard that?”

And indeed, after years of economic stagnation, West Virginia has strung together two positive quarters in a row: In the last quarter of 2016, the state’s economy expanded at a 1.9 percent annual rate. In the first quarter of 2017, the gross domestic product grew at a 3 percent annual rate, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

At the same time, West Virginia’s unemployment rate has tumbled, from 6 percent last June to 4.6 percent this June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Only two states — Wyoming and Indiana — have experienced a faster decline in their unemployment rates.

Coal... Its a big part of the Trump energy policy.....

The USA will become world dominant in Coal, Oil, LNG and raw materials for the various chemical industries

West Virginia had second highest GDP

WASHINGTON - West Virginia had the second highest growth in gross domestic product (GDP) of any state in the country during the first quarter of 2017, and Gov. Jim Justice attributes the climb to the bounce back in the coal industry.

Mining grew by 21.6 percent nationally, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce report, contributing to growth in 48 states. That made Texas, West Virginia, and New Mexico the three fastest growing states, growing at 3.9 percent, 3.0 percent and 2.8 percent, respectively.

"I know the coal business like the back of my hand and the current spike in the coal market was one I saw coming, and our state Legislature refused to listen," Justice said in a news release. "If you go back to the October 2016 debates for governor, I said that coal would rebound and that our severance tax collection would go up. Some people laughed at the time, and they were totally wrong."

The governor's office also reported that a new Reuters analysis shows U.S. coal exports have increased more than 60 percent this year due to soaring demand from Europe and Asia.

Delivering promises Bigly.

(PS...Not to be late to the party...Fracking is alive and booming in West Virginia)

This AM I was thinking about the way too many immigrants we let into the nation without them receiving necessary Judao-Christian teachings and knowledge of the US Constitutional principles that made this nation great. Instead they get inundated with toxic, rotgut, godless LIEberal doctrinal propaganda that enslaved them to DemoRat power grab to herd their sheeples at will. I’m convinced that a modicum of heaven on earth would be a nation chock full of godly Christianity minus the lying leftist toxic agenda.

Great post. Well worth reading the full article. A good and honest America is still out there, we just generally don’t ever hear about it from the media which is always pushing the horrible, the divisive, and the bizarre.

From the article: "Mary and I attended a fundraiser at the fire hall for a needy family. The elderly husband has terminal cancer and wants to make sure his wife has a new roof on their home. The fire hall was pretty full."

I had a lady come into our hospital to pay her bill just yesterday - she had a stroke and said her town had gotten together and raised $5000 towards her medical expenses, consider she lives in a town of 120 people. Yes, America, there are still good people around.

This guy has it all wrong. West Virginia is a terrible state. Bunch of redneck, uneducated, gun-totin’, inbred hillbillies.

I would advise not even visiting - don’t even stop for gas. Just drive straight through when crossing the state.

Sarcasm aside, we moved here a little over two years ago. The author is spot-on. My only complaint about the state is you can’t get a decent cup of coffee. What they call coffee is slightly tinted brown water. But they make up for it with their corn-based beverages.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and make some wild ass guesses... I’m guessing he doesn’t wear his pants around his ankles, stand on the street corner and shout “Fuck da Po-lice!” I’m guessing his car stereo doesn’t register on the Richter scale. I’m guessing his street is not littered with crack pipes, condoms, and 40 oz empties and he doesn’t sit on his front step telling “Whitey” he has no “bidness” being there. I’m guessing when he interacts with Police he says “Yes, Sir” and “No, Sir” just like they do him. I’m guessing that if he does witness a crime he cooperates with the Police to help apprehend the perp. I’m betting he wants to be part of the community and it shows.

“Randy explained that he prefers using a gun because if the hunter’s arrow does not hit the perfect spot, the animal will suffer.”

A friend who hunts has a different take on it; he was almost shot by another hunter during shotgun season, and will only bow-hunt now because he was almost killed by someone who didn’t mind the expense of a shell to “recon by fire” (shoot at an unidentified noise - my friend). Good arrows cost enough that nobody would loose them recklessly; they’ll clearly see exactly what they’re shooting at.

GREAT READ. My only complaint is their should have been a warning (no food / or drink in your mouth, other wise you may CHOKE) before:

"Randy said he needed to get more "wor." Mary eventually realized he was saying "wire"."

I almost drowned from my Ice Tea, and there is no booze in.:-)
