A racist Corn Pops box? Kellogg’s says it’s sorry (another liberal guilt trip)

Kellogg’s has apologized for a cereal-box cartoon that featured a bunch of light-colored Corn Pops hanging out in a mall — while a darker-skinned Pop scrubs the floor. Pictures showing the packaging surfaced on social media and prompted the company to respond. “Hey @KelloggsUS why is literally the only brown corn pop on the whole cereal box the janitor?” asked Marvel Comics writer Saladin Ahmed. “[T]his is teaching kids racism.” “Yes [it’s] a tiny thing, but when you see your kid staring at this over breakfast and realize millions of other kids are doing the same ... ” he added in a follow-up Twitter post.. Kellogg’s K, +0.07% responded to Ahmed’s tweet within hours, saying it was sorry and would be replacing the cartoon with something more sensitive. “Kellogg is committed to diversity & inclusion,” the company said. “We did not intend to offend — we apologize. The artwork is updated & will be in stores soon.”

Perhaps Saladin Ahmed's sensitivity meter is set to max while a darker-skinned Pop scrubs the floor???

Two things —

1. Years ago this cereal was called Sugar Pops. Why did they change the name to Corn Pops? Did they change the sugar content of Sugar Pops or just want us to think that it isn’t full of sugar?

2. Do the liberals who would bitch about this sort of thing really feed their kids this type of cereal for breakfast? Aren’t they feeding them something different? And in such case, their kids aren’t exposed to this allegedly racist message in the first place.

Excellent! Conservatives should not be purchasing cereal from the far-leftwinger Kellogg’s company, anyway.

I look at it this way: the lighter Corn Pops are frittering their time away spending money and socializing while the industrious Corn Pop is making some cash and acquiring useful work habits. So he’s the smart one in the bunch.

While we’re on the subject can there be any bigger gay slur than “Froot Loops”?...

No doubt in my mind that the commie lib artist(s) who did the original artwork did this on purpose, just so someone, maybe a pre-planned “someone” could raise a stink about it when the cartons hit the market. Whoever, in management, signed off for the new artwork, just rubber stamped the O.K. without actually scrutinizing it and thinking about what it portrayed.

Might as well take the raisins out of Raisin Bran while they’re at it

If the Kellogg's execs really cared they would quit their jobs so they could be replaced with executives of color. Then they should spend several months living in homeless shelters and standing on street corners with signs: "Will apologize for white privilege for food."

Coming soon to a lefty media outlet near you....

It reflected a reality that even conservatives wish would change. It would, if the leftists grip on academia, filtering down to schools of all kinds, and causing horrible education, could end.

It will be a collector’s item, for sure!

I'd bet the rent on the latter. Sugar has become a dirty word.

On one hand, seems like people just search for stuff to get upset about.
On the other hand, you are stupid in this day and age if you don't vet your product marketing for potential PC blowback

We have a few diehards here on FR.

I can just see them eating their Kellogg Cereal while watching a NFL game and drinking Budweiser.

Call me jaded but I would not be supersized if artist that drafted the box was black.

Assuming so would be a good bet given all the fake hate stories we read every day.

Ha ha. I had a similar thought. The “black” one is the only one doing anything useful. It could be considered racist against whites. It all depends on what you’re looking for.
