Developing: Jerry Jones Revolts, Leads Charge to Take Down Goodell
Conservative Tribune ^ | October 30, 2017 | Ben Marquis

NFL players protesting the national anthem has undoubtedly caused serious damage to the popularity of the National Football League and has also hurt the reputation of league Commissioner Roger Goodell.

In fact, the New York Post reported Sunday that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had enough of Goodell and is leading a charge among fellow owners to derail a pending contract extension for the commissioner.

Jones has been outspoken about how he would have handled the anthem protests differently, such as threatening to bench players who behave disrespectfully.

Aside from the obvious problem of allowing player protests during the anthem to continue unpunished while other minor infractions are routinely hammered, the owners reportedly have also taken issue with Goodell's mishandling of recent team relocations to the Los Angeles area, as well as with domestic violence committed by players.

"You don't get to have this many messes over the years like Roger has had and survive it," one unnamed owner stated during the call.

Getting rid of Goodell would be a start in the right direction for the NFL. So far it has all been going in the wrong direction.

Yes it does and Goodell is not alone. The owners were perfectly willing to go along with his reaction (actually, lack thereof) to the anthem protests and all his other lefty causes until they compounded and impacted their bottom line. The billionaire owners of NFL teams are every bit as out of touch with America and Americans as the elite political class of both parties.

Goodell for many years was seen as the reason the NFL was raking in big money. But his railroading of Tom Brady should have been the first sign that it was time for him to go.

Bunch of liberal millionaire owners who can’t stand the thought of doing anything that will indirectly help Trump. Everyone involved in this has shown how liberals are perfectly willing to place their selfishness ahead of country. This is about America not any one person.

The owners are starting to see that the golden goose eggs are being smashed by the Black Instant Millionaires.

Next year is going to be really entertaining when the season ticket sales go into the tank and these instant millionaires see their paychecks!

There is nothing they can do. There is too wide a gulf between the players and fanbase. They might slow the decline with a PR offensive, but it will only slow it for a while.

They even allowed Lockhart make an official statement attacking Trump over the Access Hollywood tape, they let the Democrats turn the NFL into antifa. This is all about liberal control of the NFL just like they take control of every other organization. Just like they have ruined the movie business.

Trump is working with Matt Gaetz R-Fl-1 , that elimates NFL Staduim tax that cost taxpayers 70% of the cost of the Staduim.

Probably Definitely going to be too little, too late.

Football used to feature the All Americans, out on the gridiron duking it out.

Now it's just a bunch of thugs out there collecting a huge paycheck, and we've looked the other way - until their arrogance went a little too far.

‘How can we minimize the bad headlines...’
If that was the thinking, this explains a lot. So the NFL owners were essentially playing for to be liked by the media...who have the opposite viewpoint of the NFL’s fans! Trying to appease the media made them lose their paying customers. Brilliant!

Goodell has been around for a long time because he has done a phenomenal job leading the NFL in the areas the league identified as its primary objectives: growing TV revenues, getting favorable deals in place with the NFL Players Association, and getting good stadium deals in all of the NFL markets. On those three points he has been one of the best professional sports league commissioners of all time.

The recent problems came up because Goodell -- really the NFL owners as a whole -- were facing a situation where they weren't able to push their way around against TV networks, the player's union, or a city or county government. This is the first time the NFL ever had to deal with an adversarial situation where they were facing strong pushback, and they were completely ill-equipped to deal with it.

If Jerry Jones had come out this way against Goodell weeks ago he would have had a lot of credibility, but the reality is that Jones was a very integral player in helping to perpetuate this disaster:

Jones is the problem. Do you recall his smug look while kneeling with the protesters? He should have taken care of his team.
