Democratic candidate for Virginia governor Ralph Northam is not distancing himself from the controversial ad suggesting supporters of Republican candidate Ed Gillespie are seen as Confederates who attack minority children.
The new opposition ad titled “American Nightmare” was released Monday by Democratic group Latino Victory Fund (LVF) and is scheduled to run through Election Day. The opposition ad shows minority children seemingly being chased by a driver in a pickup truck, decked out with a Confederate flag, a “Gillespie for governor” bumper sticker and a “Don’t tread on me” license plate.
The driver makes his way toward the scared children who shout, “Run! Run! Run!” when they see the truck. The ad concludes with a scene of a Charlottesville-like rally, with a narrator asking: “Is this what Donald Trump and Ed Gillespie mean by the ‘American Dream?’”

— Latino Victory (@latinovictoryus) October 30, 2017 Northam’s campaign told Fox News Tuesday that the ad was “not shocking” based on Gillespie’s campaign.
“Independent groups are denouncing Ed Gillespie because he has run the most divisive, fear-mongering campaign in modern history,” Northam campaign spokeswoman Ofirah Yheskel said in a statement to Fox News. “It is not shocking that communities of color are scared of what his Trump-like policy positions mean for them.”
But Gillespie said the ad was “an attack on” his “supporters,” whom he calls “good decent hardworking Virginians who love their neighbors.”

This is on a par with Something Goebbels would have done about Jews.

Until the George W. Bush administration, of which Gillespie was part, Virginia was a reliably red state that was English speaking and low crime.
The 30 year bipartisan policy of non-enforcement that Gillespie supported has ruined this once beautiful state.
Let this be Northam’s “basket of deplorables” moment. Really vile in the face of what happened in NYC today, to boot.
Meanwhile, the left prevents Trump from thoroughly vetting Islamic immigrants who then come here and literally mow down kids.
“Meanwhile, in NYC, reality. Muslim truck murder.”
Even without tonight’s terror event, this commercial enraged republicans, and likely whipped the Virginia citizens who live and vote there into an electoral-force to be reckoned with.
Bad timing. Bad optics. Bad ethics. Bad form.
Dems seem to be owning the bad these days.
After what happened in NYC today a normal person would be disgusted with that add.
The ad will backfire. Run it hard.
They’ve taken down the ad, not that the damage isn’t already done and their evil exposed.

But in the meanwhile run an ad showing Ralph Northam chasing and fondling young boys like his liberal friends in Hollywood.

If I am not mistaken, the dem wants to make VA a sanctuary state, or one of the cities a sanctuary city.
THAT would be the ad that I would create ...and fast.
The “democrats” are confusing Americans just driving down the road in their pickup truck with their Muslim terrorist pals who actually do mow down people with trucks. I guess once this ad came out, we should have expected one of the “democrats” pals to run over and kill a bunch of Americans. “Democrats” are evil, evil people.
I want to say the Virginia democratic party assumes its voters are the dumbest in the nation, but I was in South Carolina when Lindsey Graham was running in a primary, so it can’t be true. The Virginia democrats do however think voters are very stupid and if allowed to, they will be right.
Maybe I missed the point of the ad...?
How about an advertisement where the father and mother tell their kids they lost their jobs to illegal aliens. When the kids ask how come illegal aliens get to break the law and they don’t they shrug and say “The Democrats allow them to break the law but not you.”
He should do a split screen of his opponent’s nasty ad on one side and the islamic terrorist driver attack on the other to drive home the fact that democrats are from a freaking different universe.
Hey Latino Victory Fund, do you have any more ads? It is time for you to double down, run them non stop til election day.

He was playing nice guy until about a month ago; at which time he got back into the race. This ad should backfire, but he has to guide it.
