Some people believe it is sinful to bbring a weapon into a house God.

The early colonists knew better.

That feeling when you’re inside the church, the guy starts shooting, and you realize your hand gun is in the car.

My brother was on the pastoral search committee at his church. Candidates stance on gun control was a key point.

If he was in favor, the interview process halted immediately.

Sadly, I live in a criminal empowerment zone (People’s Republic of Maryland) Carrying anywhere, let alone church is forbidden (except the criminals)

My son recently took the class for Handgun Qualification license, a couple background checks and fingerprints (All necessary to earn the government issued privilege of simply purchasing a handgun.) We went to check out some handguns yesterday and he bought one. In addition to all the other infringements, he has to wait for a seven day waiting period, as if all the other crap wasn’t enough.

One of the elders at my church was trying to see what would be needed to arm a couple members. I think he got shot down.

It’s something I worry about.

***The early colonists knew better.***

They were required to bring their guns to church and do militia drills after. Earlier, in England, they were required to bring their longbows and arrows to church for the same reason.

"Some people believe it is sinful to bbring a weapon into a house God."

I have relatives who firmly believe that. It's a ridiculously illogical position. The conversation invariably goes, "It just seems sinful to bring a weapon into the sanctuary..."

"Why, are inanimate guns somehow sinful objects?"

"Well no..."

"It is sinful to defend your own life?"

"Well, no...But..."

"So how can it be wrong to be prepared to defend your life?"

"It just seems so wrong to have a gun in church..."

There's no convincing some people. As you said, the early colonists knew better. In my town is a church build over 300 years ago. The colonists who worshiped there were besieged by Indians -- the town was burned 3 times, and on multiple occasions the colonists survived only because they were armed and prepared at church. They even had a battle with a group of Christian Indians who had theological differences with the congregation, who claimed they weren't trying to hurt anyone, only to use the sound of gunfire to drown out the error of the sermons!

” Some people believe it is sinful to bbring a weapon into a house (of) God.”

They haven’t read 1st Samuel Chapter 29.

” And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.

9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

It’s totally legit to carry arms in Church.
