So was the first news fake, or did the President change his mind?

Put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as I review all conservation facts.

Good. I appreciate him taking the time to reconsider and review this.

Get people to develop a taste for elephant meat and the African plains will have more pachyderm farms than you can shale a stick at.

I've been hunting since I was 14.

Some of this big game stuff is just grotesque.

Savage has been complaining about bringing game African trophies back to the U.S. for the last two days. Don’t African countries regulate their big game hunting? So in principle I see nothing wrong with it. Bunny huggers seem to have a problem with it. They seem to think all of Africa cannot be trusted with their own affairs.

There is no need to take the life of animals you cannot eat,
such as Lions and Elephants.

I hope he reconsiders. It’s bad enough those animals are slaughtered for horns, ivory or whatever. If you’re gonna kill an animal, EAT IT!!!

When you make something a commodity there is an inherent interest in preserving it. The parties making $$ off these hunts will have a vested interest in preserving the species. That’s why near extinct African animals relocated to the United States are thriving here and their populations are growing.

Not being a hunter I never understood the Big Game Hunting in Africa.

Big Game hunting, I think, probably was in it’s heyday from the late 1880’s to maybe before the start of W.W. II. In that small span of time trophy hunting just about decimated a great deal of the animals in Africa. While I might understand the man against jungle aspect of hunting then, that isn’t the case now.

Too many animals are near extinction like Elephants. Then you have the preserves where they breed Lions, Tigers, etc., for sport shooting. For the sole cause of some hunter to get a trophy for their wall.

Now if you were to put these hunters out on a preserve with just a cross bow and a knife, just to even the odds a little then go for it. Today a great number of those hunts are staged or worse.

If any of you can explain the attraction in today’s world then please enlighten me.

I swear the stupidity seems to get thicker around here every day.

Its really to the point that a person has to wonder how many are just drunk trolls.

Did you see some of the responses over here?

Wait a minute, I just realized what this is actually about.

This conversation has nothing to do with elephants. All of these horrible elephant problems are occurring in countries where the only hunting is being done by poachers which as you can see causes problems for the emotional types.

In places were controlled elephant hunting is allowed by trophy hunters there are so many elephants that occasionally special culls have to be set up to reduce the herds. The problem for the leftists is that this occurs in places like South Africa. Despite having degenerated into a socialist state, South Africa is still "evil" because whites still own property and own many of big businesses.

This whole thing is really the "anti-colonialism" racism of the left and theyve found a way to turn some of the less educated on the subject amongst us to their side. These more western-ish places have to spend more money with less coming in to control the poaching that begins. International organizations come in to supposedly to watch over the re-endangered animals and work to retribalize these countries with UN assistance. Etc, Etc...

I guess it isnt stupidity after all. Its very clever salesmanship by globo-communists.

Good that he wants a review before any final action. He’ll get more knowledgeable less political voices from both sides.
