FBI and Justice Department officials have told congressional investigators in recent days that they have not been able to verify or corroborate the substantive allegations of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign made in the Trump dossier, according to a recent report. The inability to verify any of the dossiers allegations about collusion or conspiracy came during face-to-face briefings with congressional staff, sources told the Washington Examiners chief political correspondent Byron York.
The inability to verify any collusion or conspiracy is significant, since the dossier may have triggered the FBIs investigation into the Trump campaign, which has now become the special counsel investigation led by Robert Mueller.
The first installment of the dossier came on June 20, 2016. The author of the dossier, ex-British spy Christopher Steele, told Mother Jones he went to the FBI in early July of 2016, and former FBI Director James Comey told members of the House intelligence committee the investigation into the Trump campaign and Russia came in late July of 2016.
It has also recently come to light that the dossier was funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Making it even more suspicious is that the Clinton campaign and the DNC used a law firm, Perkins Coie, to hire Fusion GPS to conduct the research that would make up the dossier.

They really ought to call it “ The Hillary Dossier” , because she paid for it.....
Just a smear job disguised as opposition research.
Direct collusion with the Russians.
Projection onto others of what they are doing is heavy in the left.
‘Fake’ Dossier works for me.
It would seem that whoever paid for it....got mostly a work of fiction. An epic work of fiction....just around 35 pages....worth over a million dollars.
Someone ought to take the 35 pages and make some two-hour movie over it...how to make a fake dossier.
One thing I learned when I was a kid is that it’s hard to verify fake stuff. You need to be able to recognize BS when you see it.
>>ex-British spy Christopher Steele, told Mother Jones
I’m sick of activist public “spies” like Valerie Plame and her activist husband.
Doesn’t the reveal of their identities supposedly “danger agents in the field”?
No f’n s##t. The might as well be trying to verify The Cat and the Hat.
> In the Hat. Whatever
Not able?
Or didn’t bother because they knew it was BS and created for one reason: to enable an investigation.
Q: Whose word are we taking that Steele is an ex-spook...?
Trust but verify.
how much money and time wasted on this thing when it was quite obvious it was false or at least flawed to begin with?
Shut it down, turn it around, dig into the Ds: Benghazi, U1, DWS-Awan, Clinton Foundation-payola, DNC-media linkages...
I’ve heard that the “dossier” is a piece of fiction written by some 4chan denizen.
If true, that means that some guy (living in a basement?) is having a blast knowing that he has caused so much turmoil. There are plenty of internet mysteries; few have so much impact.
Shut down the fake investigation NOW
Mueller trying to get a perjury trap on any thing not related to the probe
Precisely. Tagline.
“Your honor, I was not able to verify his speed, but I wrote the speeding ticket in good faith.”
Ditto. They concocted it as soon as Trump had secured enough votes for the nomination. They tried to get the report released before the election. I suspect they wanted the fake Golden Shower part of the report released. The rest of it was just filler material to make the report look legit. I am surprised someone in the MSM didn't release it at the time of the Billy Bush tape. I guess the media has some standards or were afraid of being put out of business.
And meanwhile, not one Republican will ask the simplest question of them all. “Clinton, an avowed leftist, through their Foundation gave every leftist government access to our resources. Why would Putin want Trump to be President?”
Well no shit! We knew you couldn’t verify anything in the dossier and the BS about “...all 17 members of the Intelligence Community” is just that - BS. What we want to know is:
1. What did you have to do with the production of, and payment for, the dossier?
2. Was that dossier used as probable cause to submit a FISA affidavit and to obtain a FISA warrant?
and
3. Has Christopher Steele, former Chief of the MI-6 Russian Directorate (Desk), or Fusion GPS ever been paid by the FBI or DOJ?
Let’s START there...
