Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez will announce he is retiring and won't seek re-election next year.
The 13-term lawmaker from Chicago has been a leader in his party's efforts to overhaul the nation's immigration laws. His decision was confirmed by a Washington Democrat on condition of anonymity because the congressman had yet to announce his decision.
Gutierrez, 63, is a leading member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. He's pushed for federal aid to help rebuild storm-battered Puerto Rico. His parents came from Puerto Rico before moving to Chicago in the 1950s.
The congressman has also clashed repeatedly with President Donald Trump. He's among a small handful of House Democrats who have signed onto a largely symbolic effort to impeach him.

Quite possibly, but Guitierrez has also been up to his eyeballs in shady business dealings involving real estate investments where his properties were under assessed by his political allies (a three story building listed as a vacant lot) and while in Congress he has paid his wife large sums of money for various jobs that many people viewed as dubious expenditures.
The former taxi cab driver always flirted with Marxists and terrorists while lining his pockets. It was hilarious to see him pleading for funds for the American territory of Puerto Rico when he spent decades demanding that Puerto Rico be independent of the USA and that FALN terrorists were patriots.
Keith Olbermann, too. Yeah, I find it suspicious as well.
I wonder if Mueller wrapping it up as they say prob next week is an indication he found things in the swamp that he’d like to remain buried.
Possible reasons:
1. To spend more time with my family and kids
2. To spend more time with other family’s kids
3. He couldn’t keep his hands off the pizza
4. To spend more time learning spirit cooking recipes
5. Soon to be exposed as having been sexually inappropriate with only “white” women
