Indeed it is. I studied it for years; consider it the most advanced weapon until nukes (firearms being little more than rock-chuckers).

Of course, Japan has very strict gun laws.
They also have strict sword control.

Apparently. Though seems it tends to be a short-term contract.

There should be tighter regulations on swords.

Sketch wasnt really all that funny and they were all high as kites. Samurai fill-in-the-blank wasn't one sketch, it was a recurring theme.
Seems like they would do it every time Buck Henry guest hosted. I thought Samurai Optometrist wasn't too bad.

Police say 58-year-old Nagako Tomioka, the high priestess of the Tomioka Hachimangu shrine, was killed by her brother, Shigenaga Tomioka, on the temple grounds after she got out of her car, the AP reports What the police and AP failed to report is how they both flew off to the tops of the bamboo forest with swords drawn, and fought for the next 30 minutes from tree to tree.

It’s the same thing as posting from the NYT or WaPo.

Well, that’s the way they do it! New priest wannabe kills the old priest.
OH WAIT! That’s the way they did it at Lake Nemi, Italy, back in ancient Rome.
Never mind.
To: ArtDodger
More to the point, most shrines own property, on which the priest collects rents, etc.
That is traditionally how religious institutions maintained themselves. Most were established not just as the shrine proper (grounds, buildings), but as a set of land grants intended for its maintenance and livings for its priests.

No it really isn’t
You are relying on rewrites by unknown people to digest and regurgitate the news of the day.
