New Normal? California has had fires for as long as I can remember! And I am 71 years old now!
Remember the public service announcements from Smokey the Bear sixty years ago saying each year enough wildfires are started in the USA to cover Louisiana?
He is just preparing the average Californicator for their eternal home.

What about those Be-200 Russian firefighting airplanes>? They look like they might be a help. Russia offered them to us. Has Brown OKed them? There was some talk of getting some into Santa Maria? Anyone know about this???
Actually, 70 years of Smokey the Bear is what has made this the new normal.
Periodic small wildfires are normal, natural, and part of the cycle of nature. They are beneficial in that they remove fuel loading before it reaches a level where a fire causes a disaster. A burn every 5 years is a much healthier way to manage woodlands than fire prevention.
Grew up in CA. Back when they had controlled burns, it was not an issue

Just once i’d like to see someoen around 80 or so say on TV “The governor either doesn’t know what he’s talking about, or he’s delusional- There have been wildfires all my life here in cali. This is anything but a ‘new normal’”
