So true. We've see those states either turn blue or turning blue in the past 30-40 years. Not sure about Oregon, but Washington use to be red. Then central and Eastern WA was red. But as you see the lower & upper Yakima valley become overwhelmingly hispanic, gangs and what-not, even they are becoming more & more liberal. Same with Nevada & Arizona. Can't speak to Colorado. States that I've lived in & loved have become welfare loving, rule of law hating states.

Local police usually back up feds on operations. Dea fbi etc. several reasons including its in their community and may be arrests of others. Also extra guns more backup. This refusal is disturbing not just because of illegals but from a basic law enforcement concept. If people are shot or neighbors interfere locals will have to respond

Then they’d each have their own civil war. A “pure” civil war is next-door neighbor fighting next-door neighbor.
The illegal sanctuary movement is the most insidious liberal idea since legalized abortion. It takes billions of funds a year away from other projects like infrastructure, medical care, education, and even homeless. It makes us less safe. It is a direct assault on the rule of law. It effects the ballot box in a deceptive way and it empowers crooked politicians.

California has laws on the books against illegal immigration too. Why aren’t those enforced?
It depends on the level of non-assistance the locals give. If it’s just not providing backup, then I can sort of understand. If it extends to refusing to provide up to date information, that leans towards assisting and even harboring illegals, and the locals should get busted for that.
If they have that information and refuse to provide it to the federal authorities then I would think that falls under hindering the federal government's ability to enforce the law. They cannot legally do that. If they refuse to ask or check if a suspect is illegal or not then that's not hindering since they aren't forced to make that check.
Hence, “progressives” are appropriately self-described; as in cancer is a “progressive” disease.
