Recent assaults by tactical teams on prototypes of President Donald Trump's proposed wall with Mexico indicate their imposing heights should stop border crossers, a U.S. official with direct knowledge of the rigorous assessment told The Associated Press.
Military special forces based in Florida and U.S. Customs and Border Protection special units spent three weeks trying to breach and scale the eight models in San Diego, using jackhammers, saws, torches and other tools and climbing devices, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information was not authorized for public release.
A Customs and Border Protection report on the tests identifies strengths and flaws of each design but does not pick an overall winner or rank them, though it does point to see-through steel barriers topped by concrete as the best overall design, the official said.
The report recommends combining elements of each, depending on the terrain. The official likened it to a Lego design, pulling pieces from different prototypes.

Never thought about using U.S. Special Forces to test breach wall
prototypes.
Of course, if one is serious about building a wall, this is something one
would do.

How will such wall prevent a weighted line connected to a rope ladder from being tossed/shot from one side over to an accomplice on the other side?

Test and identify possible weak points, then fix it, prior to building the wall.
There was a CEO of one wall contractor on FOX last week and he had a really cool solution they were submitting. It allowed border patrols to drive on top of it.....
So we prolly spent $100,000 for this silly test, while the Mexicans will scale it or dig under it for about...$30. I am all for making it really, really tall, and mining the open space on our side.
There is no wall that could be designed and built that could not be breached somehow. But making it very difficult deters the easy crossing and restricts the effort to organized operations, which are easier to detect and stop. (IMO)
For instance, the cylinder at the top with a vibration sensor and alarm would alert people that a rope or cable has been landed on the top of the wall. It's going to take a while to hoist people up 30 feet. We should be able to get people to the location before they can get too many bodies over the wall. Fill the foundation with sand and piles to prevent tunneling. The size of the hole and the time it takes to excavate it could be observed by daily inspections.
The fully armed US guards on the other side still get to play a role in stopping illegal migration. Imagine the guy climbing over before you getting his head exploded by a rifle shot, but that aint gonna slow you down none at all.
We need to contain alligators and coyotes near our side too to take care of the bodies. We don't want to have to spend time and money cleaning up the messes.
This type of "wall worked very well for over 50 years at keeping people in. It is equally suitable to keep people out with only a few minor changes.
High speed patrol road.
No-Mans land with anti vehicular and anti-personnel mines.
Anti-vehicular ditch
3 meter expanded metal fence supported by cement posts and armed with 3 levels of anti-personnel mines w/trip wires that shoot along the fence line.
Ask the East Germans. This fence works REAL GOOD.
Change the rules for engagement governing the daily operations of the Border Patrol.
The problems will be eliminated in short order.
Camera's can be activated by motion sensors that will alert security
