Why will it take so long? This could go into March, right?
I do not understand why it would take 19 working days.
That’s 19 CONGRESS working days, not 19 ‘business days’.
It could take months for Congress to work 19 days....
#releasethememo
Congress are pretty much a buncha non-working men and women and 55 other genders.
Because, you see, the American people are so soft and delicate that if they knew the real truth about their asshole government officials, it would send swarms of folks to the hospital with the vapors, doncha know. And the first job of Govt is to protect us, doncha know. /s

Really. How hard will it be for them to delete every word and present to the public four snow-white pages of nothing? Because, y’know, that’s all we’re gonna get in the end. Easy-peasy. Ctrl+A, Delete, then Ctrl+S, and they’re good to go.
I agree with JacqueJ...why does it take so long to release it? Unless they are redacting the majority of it. We should not accept a redacted version.
“Why will it take so long? “
Redacting so everyone is protected.
Maybe that mainly speaks to both how little work they usually do (unfamiliarity with work?) and how inefficient government types are (stretching what work there is to the infinite so as to justify more “helpers” (i.e., staff)).
>> 19+ Congressional work days
very weird.
That looks like a coded message to me. 19 is very oddly specific.
... removing tinfoil hat now.
“I do not understand why it would take 19 working days.”
Process.
I do not understand why it would take 19 working days.
Actually, a delay off a few months would be helpful. We want it to be fresh in the minds of the people for the mid-term elections.

I am going to hazard a guess. If the memo contains classified intelligence then only the originating agency can approve the release. This is a process and the process takes time. It most likely isn’t done by one guy. A group will get together in each of the affected agencies and evaluate what could potentially be learned by hostile actors from the release. If there are multiple agencies involved then they must coordinate. All of this activity must be sandwiched in amongst other work those same people are doing. And, while we may think this should be their one and only priority, they may have other duties that involve potential loss of life. Those duties will come first. If, for example, you are on this committee and you suddenly have a source whose life is in danger, you handle that first.
