Senate Democrats relinquished on the government shutdown Monday, agreeing to vote to reopen the government but insisting they’ll keep fighting for illegal immigrant “Dreamers” over the next weeks, with another shutdown deadline looming Feb. 8.
“I’m glad we’ve gotten past that,” Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said just ahead of a vote.
The vote to end the filibuster was 81-18, clearing the way for passage of the stopgap spending bill.
The House was expected to pass the bill later Monday, which would end the shutdown after three days.
The breakthrough came after Mr. McConnell said he would allow the Senate to conduct a freewheeling immigration debate in February, unless they come to a deal before then on how to handle the Dreamers.

That number is bait, every bill widens eligibility way beyond those already signed up. True number is closer to 4 million.

Uh, I have seen your rants before. You are off the hook again. We don’t want linkage between DACA and anything else. It should fail alone and not keep budgets or our military or anything else tied up. My personal opinion is that every single line item should be a stand alone vote. None of this bundled deal crap. If every issue had to stand alone, there would be no hiding or obscuring of votes by politicians. Then the public could clearly see when they are voting in their own interests vice the national interests.
Trump Supporters must hammer all open-borders leaders who are up for reelection as well as those who blindly supported Illegal alien Dreamers over US citizens....our military.
Fact - One party supports illegal aliens over economically disadvantaged Americans. One party supports socialism, increasing taxes snd nanny government. One party, with a history of racism and slavery, still plays race baiting and identity politics. One party, per the WSJ, has become the party of the rich (donation support by zip code).
Oddly enough, that party has lost over 1,000 elected seats. Same party has lost the presidency (to Trump?), the House, the Senate, and controls less than 40% of the governorships and state legislatures.
America has been throwing out the party of hate and divisiveness. It will continue as long ...as we get a smart and tough ground game to GOTV in nov 2018 and 2020.
Mitch McConnell is a weak front for our party especially today when speaking on the floor. He should do our country a favor and retire along with Lindsay ‘sell-out’ Graham.
If they were willing to do that, the Admin would have caved and not the Ds. All McConnell did was agree to talk about it.

Fact: Both parties have been supporting illegal aliens over citizens for decades and refusing to enforce the laws.
That’s how we got 30 million illegal aliens.
That’s also how we got Trump.
The GOP was going to foist another Amnesty candidate on US (US citizens) so we would not have any chance to stop the illegal alien inundation.
American kids dream of a future as well. What the the Democrats will do is dash the dreams of our children. The so called Dreamers haven’t fared well anyway. So Democrats will just crush everyone’s dreams, which is just like them.
How can anyone not see a terrible problem in some of the vast mobs, who have rallied in California in recent years, against everything that was once synonymous with American culture?
