We are teaching at 6, 8 or 10 years old this pill will help. And so it begins.

Hospitals are probably more dangerous to be in as patients than on duty in Afghanistan.

I have had many close calls over the years with risky hobbies, past times, and work. Only two things really scare me, hospitals and carnies (small hands). Just kidding, that is kind of an Austin Powers reference. But unfortunately, I think that statistically you may be correct.

I was merely quoting the facts as presented in the article as a person with the authority to know.

What is not correct?

Oh and alcohol is just as bad.

/Sarc

Actually, alcohol is far worse, killing about 88,000 people a year or more than four times as many as opioids.

Interesting that alcohol isn't considered an epidemic like opioids.

I just don't get it. It is so unfair!

the docs were forced to treat any pain reported...any pain...you could have a guy sitting there on his cell phone yacking it up and laughing but if he said his pain was horrible and he needed the dilaudid/Phenergan/Benadryl IV injections, all at the same time and "fast" then you were forced to do his bidding and you had to come back and report if it "worked"...

its called joint commission...

it changed everything...

its the same with the over use of antibiotics...

if people were honest, when they went to the doctor for a sinus headache or a cold, they felt cheated if no new meds were ordered...

look in the mirror folks..

In this world you need to be strong enough to overcome drugs

Sensually the only ones that are worth shit are THC and alcohol

Only one is toxic but not very

Most other drugs especially depressants and opioids are deadly

Why anyone would voluntarily take opiates for pleasure is beyond me it’s a terrible buzz really

My famous saying is that nobody ever put that crap in your mouth or put that pill in your body

of course people can drag other people in but that’s not the problem here

This is our voluntary drug problem for the most part people are voluntarily taking these drugs thinking that it’s going to bring them some kind of pleasure

“By way of minds softened and turned to the left by marijuana.”

Highly unlikely. The Netherlands and Portugal have about one-tenth the death rate from drug ODs as the US.

The medical system bears a lot of the blame; I had a dentist push pills on me despite my insistence I would never fill the prescription. He insisted on giving me the prescription because as an opioid it couldn’t be phoned in to a pharmacy later; I never filled it, but understood how drug addiction is a big business that employs many people. Like public education, they will find a way to justify their existence. What would we do with all of the laid-off cops, prison guards, lawyers, etc. if we didn’t have this drug epidemic?

Afghanistan may explain the supply side of the equation, but our docs and pharmaceutical industry here had to create a demand side. Unlike drugs from the 60s and 70s, these are impacting many more “normal” people who were unfortunate enough to get hooked on legal painkillers - and when they were no longer available or affordable they simply turned to heroin.

The medical system does not bear the blame for the 20-30 year old heroin addicts, because most of them are too young to have medical problems that require pain meds and a physician interaction. I understand the pain med addicted 40 year old ex laborer with a back condition getting addicted to oral pain meds. However , the cohort with the heroin addiction is not the same type of people as the 40 year old ex laborer.
The media wants you to believe that heroin addiction is caused from the medical establishment. Heroin addiction is caused by heroin being brought into this country by Mexico. Prescription pain med addiction is caused by the medical establishment. Those people are not shooting up, living in tents, pooping on public sidewalks or burglarizing homes.
Right now, the media is not differentiating between the two groups. If they did, people would be screaming for the wall to be built.

I have had serious back pain for years. I had a prescription for a specific med that helped when the discomfort got out-of-hand that I would just call the pharmacy for a refill when I ran out. 100 at a time, and I rarely ordered it because that volume would keep me going for 6-10 months.

Last month, I was running low (I had 2 left, and a pain episode was starting) so I called for a refill. The pharmacy refused to fill the scrip until I went to the doc.

The doc told me that he doesn’t want to write that scrip for me as the rules have changed, and he has to justify IN WRITING why he assigned said treatment, and the scrip can’t be auto-refilled anymore either. He suggested I go with the OTC version of this particular med.

I can get essentially the same med, but less than 1/4 the strength, OTC, but I have to take 3-5 pills to get the same level of relief, and my insurance doesn’t pay anything for otc’s. Oh, and the OTC’s cost slightly MORE per unit than the prescription.

How is restricting MY access to a med I have used for nearly 25 years going to help with the current opioid crisis?

The media doesn’t have to “want me to believe” anything; I personally know two people addicted to legitimate painkillers who were addicted before 40.

The medical system’s culpability comes into play when those people lose their insurance or simply can’t afford the prescriptions anymore; they get heroin, and end up losing their livelihoods and families - and living in tents, pooping on public sidewalks or burglarizing homes.

Your friends got addicted to prescription painkillers. Yes, the physician has some cupability. However, your friends were the people calling the doctors office begging for pain pills. I am sure the physician did not force those pills on them. Your friends share a lot of blame in their addiction.

They do share some of the responsibility; the problem is how quickly doctors were prescribing painkillers far more powerful than required - and that is the problem. Many people relay stories where they avoided the opioids prescribed and used weaker painkillers to avoid the addiction caused by them. The over-prescribing of this specific type of drugs is the heart of the issue - and the heart of the opioid crisis today.

The opiate crisis in America is not in any way being caused by Iran.

Have you not read about how 0bola stopped the FBI and other agencies from going after Hezbollah members who were entering the country illegally with drugs? Hezbollah being an arm of Iran? They were making $ for Iran and 0bola didn’t want to hamper them so as not to irritate Iran.

This has been in many articles in the last few weeks. Just one of the many crimes of 0bola and his rogue thug administration.
