1. We must look at total money in each campaign. Spending money on safe seats doesn’t count. This includes local and national party money, Congressional campaign funds, candidate funds, and independent funds.
2. Money isn’t everything. Depending on the name recognition and reputation of a candidate, a certain amount of money is needed. Beyond that threshold, additional money buys little.
3. Volunteers are worth a lot more than money. A good volunteer adopting a precinct and going door to door can shift many hundreds of votes. The average volunteer can shift 100 or 200 votes.
Imagine a congressional district with 100 FReeper activists. They can shift between 10,000 and 20,000 votes. A 1,000 FReepers in a state race could shift 100,000 to 200,000 votes.
