Victor Davis Hanson: Why FISA-gate Is Scarier Than Watergate
RCP ^ | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 02/08/2018 4:53:38 AM PST by RoosterRedux

*snip*

How does FISA-gate compare to Watergate and Iran-Contra?

Once again, an administration is being accused of politicizing government agencies to further agendas, this time apparently to gain an advantage for Hillary Clinton in the run-up to an election.

*snip*

This time around, the press is not after a hated Nixon administration. Civil libertarians are not demanding accountability from a conservative Reagan team. Instead, the roles are reversed.

Barack Obama was a progressive constitutional lawyer who expressed distrust of the secretive "Deep State." Yet his administration weaponized the IRS and surveilled Associated Press communications and a Fox News journalist for reporting unfavorable news based on supposed leaks.

Obama did not fit the past stereotypes of right-wing authoritarians subverting the Department of Justice and its agencies. Perhaps that is why there was little pushback against his administration's efforts to assist the campaign of his likely replacement, fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Progressives are not supposed to destroy requested emails, "acid wash" hard drives, spread unverified and paid-for opposition research among government agencies, or use the DOJ and FBI to obtain warrants to snoop on the communications of American citizens.

FISA-gate may become a more worrisome scandal than either Watergate or Iran-Contra. Why? Because our defense against government wrongdoing -- the press -- is defending such actions, not uncovering them. Liberal and progressive voices are excusing, not airing, the excesses of the DOJ and FBI.

Obama, a ‘constitutional lawyer’? The author should know better than that. Unless he’s referring to a Constitution other than that of the United States.

Obama barely practiced any law at all. He spent most of his time pretending to write his book. And the only thing he ever taught was community organizing. There are fifth graders far better understanding of the US Constitution.

The MSM was weaponized by a combination of 'downsizing' and 'cheap deep state' feeds.

Isn't it funny that there is one person who is at the heart of both Watergate and Fisagate?

“....who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

The press has abdicated their rightful position as watchdogs and are instead they are a bunch of spoiled youngsters who are the lapdogs of the left. What a sad comedown.

HomeNewsCongressman Reveals How All of Obama’s Scandals Are Tied into FISAGATE!

Congressman Reveals How All of Obama’s Scandals Are Tied True Daily Staff February 7, 2018 News

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), a leading conservative member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, told Breitbart News Daily on Wednesday that he believes that there is an interconnectivity between various high-profile Barack Obama-era scandals and the latest revelations about corruption at the Department of Justice and FBI.

Gosar was asked during the interview on the SiriusXM 125 Patriot Channel show about the corruption on display in the release of the famed memo from House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) that detailed FISA court abuses by the FBI and DOJ in the lead-up to the 2016 election and in the months that followed now President Donald Trump’s win during the transition and even during his presidency.

That all came before the release of new text messages between senior FBI officials Lisa Page and Peter Strzok that detailed how Obama himself was overseeing everything personally on the Hillary Clinton email investigation and rivaling Trump probe. Gosar detailed how this same corruption that is now being further exposed first reared its ugly head in the earliest days of the administration of now former President Barack Obama, with the Operation Fast and Furious scandal then the IRS and Benghazi scandals—all of which had intricate levels of DOJ and FBI involvement.

“If you don’t think the [Operation] Fast and Furious—attacking the Second Amendment—along with Operation Choke Point, you know that sacred amendment that holds our government accountable and protection for all the other amendments, if you don’t think Benghazi and the lack of accountability when they knew something was going to come, if you don’t think that the IRS and the attacking of your adversaries financially, and the unmasking are unrelated things, think again,” Gosar said.

Succinctly stated by Prof. Hanson; and, indeed "scary".

Yet there seems to be no urgency or willingness to name a Special Prosecutor to investigate anybody for this obvious ongoing attempted COUP D’ETAT.

If you throw a dog a bone even a watch dog that dog will not bark when you steal from the yard it is guarding.

Media are lap dogs for the Obama Clinton criminal cabal.

Follow the money, a billion dollars goes a long way these days.

Exactly. To them, the Constitution is something one has to "get around," not used as the basis for any actual law.

Exhibit A: Obamacare.

After Obama was removed from his legal job and surrendered his license to practice law at the demand of the bar, he was given a part time, non tenure track political make work job as a lecturer at a law school .

He was assigned to teach an Introduction to Constitutional Law class
