That is called a real “red line” and that is what happens when it is crossed.
Does this mean we are now fighting on the side of ISIS?
War means fighting, and fighting means killing.
So per the other thread:
“Another update:
US F-15 fighters, Apache helicopters, heavy artillery and special ops forces took part Thursday, Feb. 8 in the early morning attack against pro-Assad, Hizballah and Shiite forces who were crossing the Euphrates to eastern Syria. DEBKAfiles exclusive sources report that the US special operations forces posted on the rivers east bank saw a Russian team of military engineers laying a floating bridge across the river 8km north of Deir ez-Zour. Around 500 Syrian commandos, Hizballah and Shiite militiamen, under Iranian command, were sighted about to make the crossing. US jets and helicopters went into action when the crossing began, destroying the bridge. US special operations waiting on the eastern bank wiped out the Syrian allied force as it landed, as well the the bridgehead they had started setting up. US-led coalition spokesmen estimated that up to 100 Syrian and Hizballah fighters lost their lives in the engagement, possibly including some Russians. There were no American casualties. https://www.debka.com/us-strike-russians-laid-euphrates-bridge-among-targets/ “
Okay, so, they were trying to lay a portable bridge, that was, per these articles, enough of a provocation.
We are on the side of the neck cutters who do not make videos with victims in orange jumpsuits when they cut necks.
We are on the side of the guys who flew the planes on 9/11.
We imagine that we can create peace in the Middle East.
We are fools.
So much for the “No more regime change.”
Now we are back to fighting on both sides.
It’s time to just get the hell out of the mid-east.
You can’t trust either side. Kill’em all.
> The US-led coalition killed more than 100 Assad regime fighters... <
This is beyond crazy. We are meddling in the business of sovereign states much like the old imperial powers did before WW I.
The SDF is a bunch of scumbags from all over the place, in 90% of cases they aren’t even Syrian.
we’re going to get sucked into the problems other people even as we try to fend off and intractable coup of our own.
“No playing with other people’s coups until you take care of your own coup.”
this is stupid.
What???
The Rebels are killing ISIS and the Syrian army (along with any civilian who isn’t Izlam, including women and children)...
ISIS is killing the Rebels and the Syrian Army...
The Syrian army is killing ISIS and the American supported Rebels...
Turkey which seems to support ISIS is also supporting the American supported Rebels in killing the Kurds who are killing ISIS while supporting Assad’s Syrian Army...
The U.S. has been supporting Russia in killing ISIS which is trying to kill the Syrians...
Now, the U.S. is killing Russians and Syrians...
What in the world is going on over there???
Scratching my head over the “unprovoked attack” comment in about the 3rd sentence.
Then, I mused, no attack on any muslim fascist force is ever “unprovoked”. muslim fascist forces are a walking provocation...
Still true.
Let’s believe the Russian view.
Anyone see their athletes in the Olympics? LOL.
That part of Syria is no longer Syria.
Those lands east of the river are a new country composed of lands that were formerly Iraq and Syria.
No, you see, after Afghanistan and Iraq, we've got Regime Change down to a science now, nothing can go wrong this time.
What I do find amusing is that the "attack" had to be qualified as "deliberate".
Geezes H. Back to my "3 foot perimeter" with me! d;^)
If you look at maps, there is a huge ISIS pocket on the Iraqi border that the US gov. backed Kurdish forces are not attacking for a long time. There are reports from many sources that the US army is training “ex” ISIS fighters as a future proxy to use against the Syrian government. Based on the past actions of the US government, statements of government officials and the current behavior of the Fed Gov. backed forces in Syria, this is probably true.
The issue is that Kurds cannot control the Arab populated East Syria for ever. The only secular and moderate people there mostly support the Syrian government. So there is no one left to make a puppet militia with but ISIS and AQ supporters.
If a major war breaks out anywhere, Trump is done. The American people are not in a mood for more wars. That’s why Trump’s posturing on say, North Korea rings hollow. The rest of the world knows how weak Trump. His voters, except some really old people, will not follow him into a big war.
The oil/gas fields you refer to are: the Omar oilfield, which had a pre-war output of 30,000 barrels a day, and the Conoco gas field, which produced 13 million cubic metres daily before 2011.
We have drawn a red line on the Euphrates River, that Assad and Russian forces do not agree with.
Deir Ezzor is a key garrison as there is still ISIS all around, Assad forces and several powerful tribal militias from the Shaaytat and Busayra tribes.
What did they think would happen? Most of the casualties were caused by Puff, bad dudes....
