A Republican lawmaker wants to strip U.S. citizenship from foreign-born gang members, in response to escalating violence from MS-13 and other immigrant-based gangs.
The bill by Rep. Lee Zeldin, New York Republican, is titled Protecting our Communities from Gang Violence Act and would revoke the naturalization of anyone who becomes involved in gang activity either 10 years before or 10 years after taking the U.S. citizenship oath.

Gee, there’s an idea.
Ping.
...it’s using common sense...
And not in the same way Democrats use that term.
Ping.
Deportation to Brazil or death;take your choice. These gangs should not exist. In other words, if you’re in the Gang, you are out of USA.
Not sure I’m in favor of this. Who’s the official keeper of gang membership records? The FBI?
I’ll go with conviction of a felony.
How exactly do you define a gang?
Who gets to define gang?
Could a Democratic president and DoJ define the NRA or a Pro Life group as a gang?
What would bevy get Due Pocess to revolve citizenship?
The media have already moved on to whether George Clooney or Oprah will run, and were just now getting to talk about this? I thought the gang members were going to be sent back so fast my head would spin. My head has not spun around, neither do we have a wall, and were hearing about Clooney, the next President Camacho. yippee
Support Free Republic, Folks!
I have a better idea. Revoke the citizenship of criminal members of Congress and law enforcement.
Yeeees
“Could a Democratic president and DoJ define the NRA or a Pro Life group as a gang?”
Presumably, this would apply to naturalized citizens, not natural born citizens.
the law will be expanded to include natural born citizens soon enough
If the person has become an actual citizen; not a DACA, it would be too late.
It pertains to any naturalized citizen.
If it’s found out they were a gang member 10 years before their oath or up to ten years after their oath their citizenship can be revoked.
The problem I see...is that their native country probably won’t accept them back. So this might sound good but be ineffective. You see this a lot in Europe as drug charges pile up on immigrants, and their native countries laugh when it’s brought up about the guy being forced to return.
A simple check of their tats would take care of knowing who is and isnt a gang member, that and their perp record!
