I don’t think any of that would happen because it’s a dorm and not an apartment. There are no property rights on the nut’s side here. She also has no “tenancy rights” because they do not exist in a dorm per se as they might in an apartment.

I bet New York has lenient laws on evictions. But even if they do, so much time has gone by, that I’m sure she can be evicted. Maybe they are afraid of bad publicity if they take action?

Eh not really. Per their website, there's a late checkout fee of $150 per day, so right there is $50k+ for just one year of not leaving. So two years would put her at $100k in just that one fee. Room fees look to be about $5k/yr, but that's not including summer. Late payment fee is only $15, but 24 months worth adds up too!
