Should We Banish Sunlight to Protect Domestic Jobs?

Revisiting Bastiat’s parable.

As president of the most powerful country in the world — and a man with the utmost confidence in his own judgment — would Donald Trump dare to tell the Sun, that fiery ball at the center of our solar system, “You’re fired!”

It seems so, if we take him at his recently tweeted word (“Trade wars are good, and easy to win”) and take the liberty of injecting him into the center of the argument found in the “Candle Maker’s Petition,” a satire of protectionist tariffs written by the great French economist, Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850).

Every country gets to look out for itself, it seems, except the USA.

No it’s not education.... It a con job.

They Globalists pigs keep pissing on every American and tell us it’s raining. S.M.H.

NAFTA, GATT and other rigged trade treaties are the reason why our economy went to $hit. Our politicians sold us out. Yes they were bribed.

Anyway, the rigged one way trade treaties torpedoed our economy by de-industrializing the United States. Which was the backbone of the United States. The Globalists are attempting to take down the United States by de-industrializing us. It was the industrial age that brought in the modern world we see today, helped us win World War II and helped put us into Space and beyond.

The only think that has kept us afloat initially after the rigged treaties was the initial dot com revolution, and the fact that NAFTA was new.

Then we had the war on terror less than a year later after the dotcom implosion. The war on terror floated the economy for about about 7 years, and then the collapse began again.

Then we got got all the pumping of money printed by the Federal Reserve( the same clowns that help sell us out on this Bull$hit plan), out of thin air which weakened the dollar (and some people argued this was great) like TARP, Quantum Easing 1, Quantum Easing 2 and finally Quantum Easing Unlimited. The so called economic geniuses were proven failures each and every time we had to come up with a new way to stimulus because the previous ones failed just like the so called experts said would never happen.

Now that QE unlimited is running out and the Fed has maxed out cutting interest rates what do we have left? If we continue the Globalists path, then we will economically collapse?

President Trump has been trying to reverse the damage the Globalists have done, and these rats are having conniption fits. They are out there in the fake media trying to confuse the public. People like this writer parrot mindless platitudes that have been proven failures from almost the start and irrelevant points.

It’s all very simple if you take a step back....,

If we have 0 tariffs as the Globalists want, then are industry leaves. We have done this over the last 20 years and it has been disastrous. The Service Sector was keeping us some what afloat, but we still need the Industrial sector. President Trump cutting regulation and taxes helped a lot too. People globally overall feel better about President Trump being in charged economically. It’s the reason why we are still ok. If we had Hillary, then it would probably be a revolution by now.

The problem with economics is people get confused with why countries have tariffs. Its’ a way to keep a level playing field economically speaking. To make sure we do not lose jobs.

I find it remarkable how people still do not get it. To me it’s very easy to see that losing jobs is not a winning plan. Our Education system has failed the American people and it’s big reason why we are in such trouble. You know, if we had a good education system, then our country would not even be having half the problems we do today. Our country was a lot better off before the Department of Education. They need to dissolve it and return the money to the States. Education is better done at the local level than the National Level.

Just reduce wages in the US to what they are in Bangladesh or Vietnam, according to the free traitors that would solve all our problems and make us a wealthy nation.

We can't have anything but a manipulated US participation in the international market or a free market within the US again until the 16th Amendment is repealed and probably can't get that done until we repeal the 17th Amendment. Since that's not happening any time soon, going back to protecting the US market with a wall of tariffs is the best available solution.

Basically, the people with big money who keep Senators and Congressmen on retainer don't give a damn about the US or any other country except as tools to play off against one another in order to increase their own wealth.

Explanations from people who are also on retainer to the wealthy or those who were duped by them as they passed through the indoctrination system we euphemistically call "higher education" are all hot air and diversion, aka smoke and mirrors. Something they want you to believe instead of your own lying eyes.

A little research is all you need to learn that the US is a manufacturing powerhouse. 2nd only to China who has 1/5th of the US per capita output.

To surpass China we would need another 100 million working citizens.

Deregulate, drill/frack/dig/mine everywhere, and lower taxes and no country can beat the US with or without tariffs.

“Free Trade” won’t win you the Rust Belt. So all of this conservative stuff means nothing. No conservative judges, no tax cuts, no strong military, no regulation cuts, no 2nd ammendment. Until the GOP can get to 270 another way say hello to more McCains and Romneys

Every night you see those journalist “experts” who have never had an honest job decry the tariffs and attempt to voice the globalist objections to the tariffs with their third grade level of understanding.

Interesting to note the same sort of infantile emotionaly hysteric arguments are presented by both the Church of man made global warming and the mindless “free trader” PR bots.

It would help if they bothered to learn even the most basic facts about how trade actually works instead of mindlessly screaming dogmatic slogans about “free trade”.

We don’t have Free Trade, we have MANGED trade. And since the end of WW2 it has been purposely managed to our disadvantage in order to advance US Foreign Policy goals.

All Trump is doing is challenging the knee jerk unthinking 70 year old dogmas of the DC political/business/media machine.

The last time I looked America consumed just at 30% of the entire world output of goods and services.

As such we have great leverage in negotiating trade agreements and there is no reason we should not use our well earned leverage at the beginning table.

None of the gloom and doom scenarios of the arbiters of cheap (dumped) steel and aluminum will come to pass and even if there is a tiny increase on the cost of aluminum as it applies two beer cans or soda cans between the manufacturer and the wholesaler the $0.03 can be split and if the consumers faced with a six pack of Coke costing a nickel more, I doubt it’s going to make any difference at all...at all.

Nations protector Industries all the time and all over the world and there isn’t any reason why we should allow our Industries to be taken advantage of as has happened in the past. The fact that we are such huge buyers in the world markets means that we can should we really choose to be a hard ball player dictate the terms of any trade agreement. We are the largest single Market on the planet for everyone else and All producing Nations want nothing more than to be able to sell their products to us.
