Gowdy: Because Comey Let Clinton Off, He Likely Won't Face Charges for

According to the Department of Justice Inspector General, fired FBI Director James Comey is under investigation after leaking classified information to a friend last year, who then passed it along to a reporter. The information was contained in a series of memos written by Comey after meetings and phone calls with President Donald Trump.

But despite what the law says about disseminating classified information, Comey may not face conseqences. According to House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, Comey may have saved himself thanks to the exoneration of Hillary Clinton.

"Not by the standard he set in the summer of 2016. God knows how hard it would be to win that case," Gowdy said in response to a question about whether Comey broke the law. "Remember, he ignored the statute that says 'grossly negligent.' He now has a requirement that it has to be intentional and you have to do it to harm the United States. So under the standard that he set in summer 2016 with Secretary Clinton, I don't think Jesus could win that case."

Rep. Trey Gowdy on fallout from release of Comey memos

The release of the memos last week came after Gowdy and a number of leading Republicans threatened the FBI with a subpoena for failing to turn them over by an earlier deadline.

"We have long argued former Director Comey's self-styled memos should be in the public domain, subject to any classification redactions. These memos are significant for both what is in them and what is not," Gowdy released in a joint statement with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes. "Former Director Comey leaked at least one of these memos for the stated purpose of spurring the appointment of Special Counsel, yet he took no steps to spur the appointment of Special Counsel when he had significant concerns about the objectivity of the Department of Justice under Attorney General Loretta Lynch."

An inspector general report about how the FBI and Obama DOJ handled the Clinton email scandal is due to be release any day.

Trey, buddy, the Clinton email case never made it to a prosecutor, much less a court to make his action “case law”. A botched investigation by a compromised investigator who made up a statute out of whole cloth using a flawed interpretation and then failing to take the case to a prosecutor does not make “case law”. However, all of the machinations of James “Z’up Homey” Comey could be interpreted as obstruction of justice. Get with it, Trey!

I don’t know whether to scream or cry.
No prescedence was set in stone or even in mud by Comey via the Hillary affair.

Gowdy is playing fast and loose to what end, I don’t know.
Gowdy is a “golly me” all too often. He folds.

I didn’t realize that Comey was a one man Supreme Court.

Yeah, apparently he writes the laws, enforces them, and judges them. And because he broke the law then he can't be held accountable now. Sheesh.

So a cop is setting up a speed trap, and the radar unit shows a car going 15 MPH over the speed limit. He see it is the car of a popular mayoral candidate’s car and decides no judge in this county would take that case. The cop lets the Mayoral candidate off the hook. The cop retires and is detected going over 15 MPH over the speed limit - and gets pulled over, and claims no one should EVER gets a speeding ticket EVER again. C’mon Trey!

Not only is Justice not blind, but she’s very selective. The “rule of law” becomes quite precarious when citizens see that it isn’t equally applied.

Mr. Gowdy, am I missing something? Are you saying the "illegal' intent standard Comey applied to Hillary is now somehow law or legal precedent? Are you taking crazy pills?

Trey Gowdy is not just a creature of the swamp, he sucks the fetid slime off the balls of other swamp creatures.

Gowdy has yet to meet a deep state criminal whom he’s willing to publicly accuse of wrongdoing at any level.

He’s a total joke.

Have to wonder if Gowdy is a closet queen or a pedo, who is being blackmailed, since the lame rationale he so often uses, to exonerate or excuse the illegal actions of these establishment bastards, are so pathetically void of substance.

All of these so-called investigations and NO ONE has been indicted, charged, or sent to prison. It’s just a sick joke.

I look at it as a valuable educable moment for conservatives to fully realize just how deeply and successfully Soros and his power global elites have infilitrated our ranks.

Had DJT not ran and won, most of us would still be in the dark.

From the mouth of a person who likes to hear themselves talk. Nonsense. He was a lawyer? A prosecutor? Bubble head.
