I’d rather see a biopic of Lee.

I would love such a movie, greatest American general ever. However, Leo playing Grant does make me shudder a bit.

2002 drama Catch Me If You Can..............That was a good movie, based on a true story.........dramatized, of course............

...Trying to picture Leonardo DiCaprio with a beard.
...besides Giselle Bundschein.
I actually like Tom Brady; it’s just that I’m a Giants fan and anti-Patriots jokes are so fun.

Yes. Would be very interesting. I wonder if it would cover the war, his presidency or both.

Id rather see a biopic of Lee. That would be a good one, too. I'd like to see one about Sherman. He was a deeply mentally conflicted person that a good actor and director could really draw out.

I thought the definitive character of Grant was already played... by John Wayne....... :/

For anyone interested, I highly recommend
The Civil War Podcast. Lots of great details on the various commanders during the war along with details on all major battles. Interesting episodes too on the ironclads, weapons of the Civil War, even the music of the period.

I might worry a little that the story will drift toward something like, “The guy was in the army for awhile and then he became a Republican president and led the MOST CORRUPT administration ever — until it was surpassed by a more corrupt Republican administration in the 21st century!!!!!!”
Because Hollywood.

What war? Very few statues of opposing forces so maybe there was only a rumor of war. 👹

Your comment reminded me. He was in two wars.

Marty Sheen can do it. He did Lee in Gettysburg.
Joking.
Seriously, what actor has the gravity to pull off a pic of Robert E Lee?

That would be a good one, too. I'd like to see one about Sherman. He was a deeply mentally conflicted person that a good actor and director could really draw out. Any of those generals (Grant, Lee, Sherman) would make an interesting subject. Grant and Sherman could practically be a dual bio-pic. You could cut back and forth between them when Grant goes east and Sherman heads down to Georgia.
Even though Lee was depicted in Gettysburg and Gods and Generals, I did not care much for either portrayal. Martin Sheen was miscast (but did well under the circumstances) and Robert Duvall was too old.
