If he puts the Millennials and other pot smokers in his pocket the election is over. He’s already gaining with blacks, Hispanics, some gays and Asians.

The end of Prohibition is imminent.

I went through the same change of heart on this as Ben Shapiro. Dope is stupid, but the federal government should simply butt out. It’s not in their mission statement (constitution).

“put him at odds with Jeff Sessions”

I swear, every “news” article I ever read contain some swipe, some negative about Trump. If the law is changed, Sessions will simply enforce the new law. Not hard to understand!

Changing marijuana from a Tier 1 drug to anything lower would open a lot of the medicinal benefits legally across the country.

“I support Sen. Gardner,” Trump said when asked about the bill. “I know exactly what he’s doing. We’re looking at it. But I probably will end up supporting that, yes.”

More winning!

Trump said he is likely to support the federal legalization effort despite a warning against it from the coalition of narcotics officer groups.

“We urge you to see through the smoke screen and reject attempts to encourage more drug use in America,” they wrote in a letter to Trump Thursday.

Of course they did - the War on Pot is make-work for narcotics officers.

I support marijuana legalization.

Its already legal to smoke pot here in CO.

The federal ban no longer makes sense.

Good to see my state’s GOP senator Cory Gardiner pushing to remove it.

Bad move, Mr. President.

Legalizing Marijuana is a Terrible Idea

Lessons from history are instructive. Free drug states get consumed by their enemies no matter how powerful they once were:

Use getting rid of the federal ban on marijuana as a vehicle for a broader 10th Amendment restoration act. Limit all federal criminal jurisdiction to actual interstate commerce, i.e., transactions between two or more states and not transactions that are wholly within a single state.

If someone wants to grow marijuana in California and sell it to residents of California then it should be entirely up to the state of California to make it legal or illegal. If someone grows marijuana in California and distributes it outside of California then and only then should it be a matter for the federal government.

Makes it tough on the cops to do unauthorized vehicle searches by claiming they smelled weed...they’re not going to like it.

And YEP, the millennials will LOVE TRUMP for this...I doubt the Dems can even handle this much longer.

Marijuana is harmless. Legalize it. Go after the hard stuff, like heroin. Seattle is going to have a mobile van which will be a safe injection site to allow addicts to shoot up under supervision. Jeff Sessions needs to go after that. I would think a strongly worded letter to the Seattle City Council about the ramifications of a safe injection site ( seizure, arrest) would be forthcoming, but all I hear is nothing.

It doesn’t actually end prohibition, it leaves the issue up to the states, where it resided perfectly happily before the feds decided to butt in. People who oppose the legalization of pot may still do so at a state level. Or city, or county - there are still dry counties in this country. This shouldn’t be a problem, and we have been here before.

It’s not just Recreational use, it’s Medicinal use. There are many uses for Cannabis derivatives including reducing severe Epileptic Seizures in Children.

As far as everyone bashing Sessions over this, the AG is tasked with enforcing the Law. He has said more than once that those who disagree with it should get the Legislature to change the Law.
