Rep. Barbara Lee, California Democrat, accused the Trump administration Sunday of “criminalizing” illegal immigrants.
Ms. Lee, who joined a congressional delegation that visited intake and detention facilities Saturday near the border in Texas, described the conditions as “tragic.”
“I mean, these people are being criminalized,” said Ms. Lee on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We went into the processing center, where there are cages, certainly. People think there aren’t, there are, we saw these cages.”
At the detention center, she said, “we talked to maybe 10 or 15 mothers. These are jails. These are prisons. These are people who are being criminalized.”

Sadly that is not true, except maybe here, most every news source now calls them "Undocumented Immigrants" as do most politicians, both parties.
You're confusing Barbara Lee with another profoundly stupid Democrat congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee.
She's the one who inquired as to whether the Mars rover would be able to locate the American flag the astronauts planted there.
We are NOT a nation of immigrants nor descendants of immigrants.
A nation of immigrants would be no nation at all but a random gathering of people of assorted races, religions, and nationalities, united only by their presence in the same land.
With no native culture to provide national unity, the population would tend to fragment on racial and ethnic lines, ensuring division and strife as groups pursue their interests at each other’s expense.
Rather we are a settlers' nation, resulting from the achievement of the settlers who founded those colonies and, in time, won independence from their Mother Country. It was the settlers’ nation, not empty wilderness, that later gave immigrants a new home.
And these immigrants became the naturalized & native born Americans.
Yeah, Barbie, you're right, they're criminals. They criminalized themselves when they broke the laws of the United States and showing up here uninvited. They are getting much, much better treatment than they deserve and you and your fellow left-tards know it.

Apparently she’s ignorant of the definition of ‘illegal.’
If they are illegal aliens they are not illegal immigrants but by definition alien criminals.

The love of my life is a Mexican lady whom came here legally and was educated in our Universities. Her dad was a businessman in Mexico and not rich but well off. He knew what the United States could offer his children. He paid out of country tuition for them to attend the University of Texas of El-Paso. They took courses in English while in high school in Mexico. They did this so they could go to our universities in Texas and take their courses in English and not Spanish! That tuition is even higher than out of state tuition. His children grabbed the American Dream. His children are not democrats. Today they are American Citizens via the correct legal process.
None of his children were on welfare or social subsitence of any kind. They are all tax paying Americans of great loyalty to our nation.

Thanks for what you said. What make me most sad is our great nation does need immigrants but the “right immigrants.” We need those that want the American Dream and want to be part of our culture. We do not need immigrants that will not do this.
When we have family over at my home it is somewhat funny. It is a mixture of Spanish and English. The young ones do not speak good Spanish, all they have ever known is the United States. Although I am a gringo I speak Spanish as I grew up on the Mexican border and also lived a few years in Venezuela.
My family is what America is supposed to be. I am proud of my American German English Heritage as they are proud of their Mexican heritage but we are Americans first.

My daughter in law (drop dead beautiful) is 100% Mexican but third generation American. Her Spanish is pitiful to say the least. Culturally she is 100% American. I think this is the way it supposed to work!
My step son is 50% Mexican and 50% Indian from India. He knows nothing except he is an American. He has zero cultural prejudice. He was a combat medic in Iraq for two tours of duty. Today he is a registered nurse and in one year will be a nurse practitioner. Our great nation will let you be anything you want if you will work for it. He did. Although he is my step son I love him as dearly as my own, I raised him.
I like my family.
