Democrats, You Had a Good Monopoly With the Media, but It’s Over
Townhall.com ^ | July 1, 2018 | John Dempsey

If you haven’t noticed lately, the mainstream media is in a bit of a panic. The Inspector General report came out, and then Michael Horowitz testified about it. The media has been in a faux outrage about children being separated from their parents at the southern border as they illegally cross into the United States. However, they didn’t care when President Obama was doing the same thing. The media has always been able to cover up a lot of information from the public to help out the left. However, those days have passed thanks to technology.

There is no secret that Democrats have many friends in the media. ABC, NBC, CBS and so forth had the monopoly for decades. They were able to report what they wanted for the most part. There was no Fox News on television until 1996. The biggest problem they had was Rush Limbaugh, but that wasn’t until 1988. At that point, Conservative talk radio wasn’t very popular though. Fortunately, it did eventually take off.

The internet has been the biggest enemy to the Democrats since its inception. Famously, the blue Monica Lewinsky dress story about President Clinton’s Oval Office affair broke on the Drudge Report, after saying that Newsweek was sitting on the story. Newsweek couldn’t protect the sordid president any longer.

Democrats need the shield of the mainstream media. This week has been a rough one for the left with the Conservative victories on the Supreme Court. Not to mention, the retirement announcement by the most consistent swing vote, Justice Anthony Kennedy.

They need the media to bolster the immigration narrative that says children are “ripped away” from their parents, or to spin the next leftist lie.

There are plenty of Conservative websites that anyone can visit for information. The reader will often learn there is more to the story. This crushes the Democrats lies. Thankfully, we have a president that has no qualms about calling out the media. For years, we have been lied to and manipulated. And the mainstream acts like they are the victims when criticized.

Democrats are starting to see the problem, even though they won’t admit it. And that is why they are panicking. The left gets push back with the availability of news on the web from other outlets. They can’t lie anymore and get away with it. Plus, very little is forgotten on the web.

The only problem is the left also owns Google. Searching for news can prove fruitless if you want a Conservative site. There are many left-wing sites on the first pages, so we see new problems from the left. However, it is not as easy to take advantage of individuals anymore like it was fifteen or more years ago.

Today, the media is perpetuating lies about families being separated at the border. A Twitter hashtag #FamiliesBelongTogetherMarch is trending on the social media site because of nationwide protests. The media pretends that nothing is being done about the crisis they manufactured. However, President Trump solved the issue earlier last week with an executive order. There are plenty of Conservative websites that tell you this. Right-wing websites are an example of circumventing the Democrat favored fake news, spawning hatred from the left.

The Democrats worst enemy is the truth. The mainstream media lies for the left. But those days are over, and leftist politicians are melting down, all thanks to the internet.

Has any reporter from the corrupt news media mention that this is obama’s policy?

“Which 360,000 each month cut cable TV.”

I’m one of those - got rid of DISH and decided to try Netflix.

Now I have to dump them.

Consider how long it was before anyone knew of Durant’s lies about what was going on in Georgia under Stalin. We didn’t even know the FULL truth until the release of the Verona files.

I got rid of Direct TV and I am thinking about Netflix going to. Their programming is hit or miss. I get about 33 channels on the Digital Antenna, GRIT Channel is my favorite, all westerns.

Definitely. But they do visit rightist sites to spew hate. I see it often in the postings.

I do not do so to leftist sites, first because I do not favor such action, second because I know I would be effaced and banned.

I think a potentially MASSIVE bombshell is about to happen to the tech industry.

Why? Because of this picture taken at a private dinner in San Francisco on February 17, 2011, which clearly shows a number of technology company CEO's (of the time) making a toast with President Obama:

We know that the then-CEO's of Apple, Cisco Systems, Facebook, Google, Netflix, Oracle Systems, Twitter and Yahoo! were in attendance. We don't know what was discussed, but if we find out that the dinner included an unwritten "gentlemen's agreement" to censor the political Right over the Internet with Obama's personal approval, then all eight companies I mentioned could be subject to a huge First Amendment lawsuit since the companies are engaged in censorship on behest of the US Government.

I agree, they still have a distinct advantage. ABC, CBS & NBC still get around 20 million viewers for the evening news.

Nobody else comes close. Plus, the cable channels, MSN, CNN, etc.

That is why when you cut your cable, you tell the cable company you will be back when they have a la carte programming. The basic bundle has to be destroyed. The LEFT MEDIA CARTEL channels are always in the basic bundle. Its provides them with a guaranteed income.

If you had a la carte programming would you include any of the LEFT MEDIA CARTEL channels? Me, either.

This would open up the market for competition. It is a free market solution to the problem.

I agree. It seems like the whole publication is on here, sometimes. Use DuckDuckGo as well.

The media gives the LEFT 10points. If they lost the media, they would be losing elections even in some blue states.

That is why it is so important to get the cable companies to offer a la carte. The only way to do that is hit their bottom line and make them offer it.

Cut the cable tv and tell them you will be back when they offer a la carte.

“I get about 33 channels on the Digital Antenna, GRIT Channel is my favorite, all westerns.”

We installed a digital antenna in the attic and ran cables through the walls and into outlets similar to DISH hookups.

We also get GRIT and COZI, Escape, LAFF, etc., along with all the local channels.

We used to get Newsmax TV and watched that most of the day, but they disappeared - likely available on pay TV now.

I know what you mean. Several have come knocking and can’t believe we don’t want to pay for stuff we’ll never watch.

We had DISH for years - helping to pay for CNN and other stuff we don’t want coming into our home. We watched maybe 3 or 4 stations. Not worth it.

Often the first five or ten comments are sensible right-leaning comments. Then they sink into anti-conservative / anti-Trump rants. I wonder if the first few are the responses of people who initially read the articles before some people who spend time being alerted to right leaning sites start their leftist comments.

Before C-Span had the Dem, Republican and Independent phone lines, phone calls were overwhelmingly from a conservative viewpoint. Then someone, in Florida IIRC, organized people on the left to assign people a monthly time to call in. Then came the designated lines. Then the calls became dominated by the left with many of the supposed R’s saying ..... I am an R, BUT in this case.... I stopped watching.
