The stupid is strong in this one. If this were the USA, I'd say she was a Hillary voter, but this is Australia where they've already committed to embracing tyranny

If you want to feed the wildlife it is ok to ‘toss’ the food to them folks.
Animals are not hung up on etiquette, they won’t mind.

I’ve said many times that the greatest threat to wildlife is ignorance on the part of the public. Witness the story yesterday about the “black” (melanistic) giraffe and some of the idiotic comments about them being “docile”, “endangered”, etc.

The same thing applies to nurse sharks. There’s a broad perception of them being tame and harmless, which is far removed from the truth.

Wild. Animals. Are. Not. Pets.
Especially if they have lots of large teeth or claws.

Wow, that headline is as misleading as you can get. These are nurse sharks... very timid, and very small teeth. She fed one, and left her finger too close. She freaked out at the feel of the bite, and slipped on the platform that was in the water. This was not a great white pulling her around like a rag doll, this was a skittish girl freaking out and slipping because she got nipped on the finger.

Nurse shark teeth:

You'd get bit worse by not minding your fingers while feeding a carrot to a horse.

Women and children are especially vulnerable to this kind of thing because they see these wild animals as "cute" and want to get close to them and hand-feed them. Many zoos and aquariums have "feeding areas" where women and children are encouraged to purchase food to feed to certain animals.

This is not a good practice as it gives people too much of a comfort zone around animals which leads to incidents such as this.

This is not the fault of the animals. When they attack humans, they are only acting on their instinctual impulses to defend themselves. Even your own domesticated dog will bite you if they feel threatened. People should be intelligent enough to give all wild animals a respectful distance.

".... don't feed the sharks...."

She had to get her finger almost bitten off to realize this?

Seems like a no-brainer to anybody with any common sense.

Here in Florida, there are warnings all over the media and signs to not walk close to the water's edge where there could be alligators.

But there a regular news reports of people being attacked and dragged into the water by alligators.

What are these people thinking?

Most certainly, they are liberals who don't have a very strong intellect and thinking capacity. :-)
